Level 1.5 · This player has played little tennis. Knows
how to serve and keep score. Possibly able to hit 2 or 3
balls in a row.
Level 2 · This player can keep the ball in play for a very
short time. Cannot place shots very well. Has become
interested in the game. Can hit some backhands and
can serve easily without placement.
Level 3 · This player can place shots with moderate
success. Serve is more consistent and can be placed.
This player is learning to put pace on the ball.
Level 4 · This player is a tournament caliber player but
loses in early rounds. Is capable of good net play and
can execute spins.
Level 5 · This player maintains a high winning level of
play. Can execute all shots accurately. Player reaches
at least the quarter of semifinals of highest level state
championships.

Summer 2015 Tennis Training At L.I.R.C.
The Louisville Indoor Racquet Club has the
most complete and innovative junior tennis
program in Louisville. We stress the importance
of limiting classes to ability level and small
student-pro ratios. A free evaluation is available
by calling us at 426-2454.
Children will work in small groups and will be
instructed in the following areas of the game:
tennis etiquette, scoring, basic skills, tennis
hand eye coordination, and advanced drilling
for the intermediate to advanced players. The
player will have actual playing time in game
situations. LIRC summer pro-gram will start
June 8th and end Aug. 7th.
10 & Under Tennis
A chance for younger children to learn fundamentals and become interested in playing tennis.
Children learn hand eye coordination, proper
technique, forehand, backhand, volley and play
fun games. The clinics use foam balls which are
softer and slower. Foam balls are designed to help
children swing slower and experience the success
of the ball going over the net. The nets are lower
to provide success for game play.
Ages 3 to 5 – 4 weeks, ½ hour sessions - $19.00

Junior Team Tennis
The team tennis at LIRC has been a favorite with
our junior players. Match play is supervised with
focus on singles and doubles strategy. Juniors will
play matches within their levels.

Cost: $80.00 (8 weeks)
Supervised Junior Match Play
Match Play is supervised with foucs on singles and
doubles strategy. Players should be from 2.0 - 3.5+
level. Juniors will play singles and/or doulbes each
week. Matches will be played within or close to
his/her level.
