LOUDOUN SOCCER WELCOMES BACK MICHAEL GREEN
LEESBURG, VA – Loudoun Soccer is pleased to announce the return of Michael Green to our organization. Green is
coming back to the area after serving as the State Technical Director in Alaska for the last three and a half years.
Returning to the club in which he served for a considerable time before heading to Alaska, Green will join the
Loudoun Soccer Technical staff starting in May where he will oversee the U9-U12 Boys Travel teams. He will coach
two teams as well as attend the travel tryouts that take place that same month. Green will also be the new
director of the Travel Training Series program that takes place annually in the summer, which will be receiving an
exciting new curriculum under his leadership entitled ‘Developing the Mindset’. He will also oversee the addition
of a new speed and agility program entitled ‘RunTheRed’ that will launch this summer. Details for both programs
are forthcoming.
“We are very pleased that Mike is returning to his home club. He was immensely successful here before he left,
and we know he’ll continue that trend upon his arrival”, said Darryl Gee, Technical Director at Loudoun Soccer.
“We are looking forward to using the experience he gained while in Alaska to benefit our club and its players.”
Green boasts an impressive resume, including a current USSF A license, USSF Y License, NSCAA Premier Diploma,
and NSCAA Youth Diploma. He serves as a Region IV staff member and player scout, and has 18 years of youth
coaching experience under his belt. Green played professionally for 6 years, including with the 2000 MLS
Champion Kansas City Wizards. Green also won the ACC championship and was a National Finalist with the

University of Virginia, where he is 3 All-time in minutes played.
“My family and I are thrilled at the opportunity to return to such a great community”, Green said. “We have many
friends and family in the [Washington] D.C. area and we are looking forward to reuniting with them.”
“I hope my experiences in Alaska can be used to help current staff plan, inform, educate, and facilitate more
quality programs throughout the Loudoun Soccer community. In Alaska, we are very short of soccer resources. We
lacked facilities, players, coaches, administrative support, and board expertise. All of those pillars are firmly in
place in Loudoun Soccer. Working with the current staff to help improve and enhance our current soccer culture is
a dream opportunity.”
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Technical staff member Grant Smith, who currently oversees the
Boys U9-U12 Travel teams, for his hard work and dedication to our organization. Smith has decided to return to his
local club Arlington Soccer at the end of the spring season. Loudoun Soccer is greatly appreciative of the hard work
that Grant has done for our club and we wish him all the best in his new role in Arlington.
