In addition to this application form, I require: Typed Cover Letter (minimum of 3 paragraphs explaining why you want to be on the yearbook staff and what qualities you have that would make you a GREAT and FUN addition to our team.) 2 Teacher Recommendations Samples of your work (explained below) DUE: Friday, March 27, 2015 by 1:00 p.m. in the main office As a yearbook staff member, you will: A. Work as a team to complete all sections of the yearbook. B. Write interesting articles/captions and take photos for the yearbook; meet with advisers, administrators, students, and/or coaches to get background information or interviews. C. Meet deadlines and be responsible for completing your pages; designing layouts, proofing, editing, etc. D. Come to class on time and prepared to work. 1. Sample of Your Work Show us what you can create! Write your name on the back of all items. Put all items in a large envelope with this application. These items will not be returned. Photography – Submit five original photos. At least one candid, one action and one posed. (candid shots are of people who are unaware they are being photographed) Writing – Write an interesting caption and a short paragraph describing one of your photos (ex. Academics section may write about “Homework Blues”; sports could be about the basketball season highlights, etc.) Use 3rd person objective & past tense. Interview – Interview someone you do not know and find out their story. Write a short paragraph (4-5 sentences) about that person. Make it interesting, use 3rd person objective and past tense. 2. What yearbook position(s) are you interested in? Staff Member (design pages, take pictures, write stories and/or captions, decide on pics, meet deadlines) Section Editor (Oversee and proof all pages produced in that section, design pages, take pics, write stories and captions, decide on pics, meet deadlines) Photo Editor (take quality pictures, organize and edit pictures, work with team members in designing pages that will be used in the book, use digital cameras, and meet deadlines) 3. If you choose to submit it with your application, you must give the recommending teacher an envelope with your name on it and have him/her sign across the seal. Recommendation forms must be turned in by Friday, March 27, 2014, so remind your teachers of the deadline (and give it to them in writing!). Turning in applications early is recommended Note: Please put your name on all items and place them in a large envelope with your name and current grade on the front. Pictures will not be returned.
