But sometimes I am overwhelmed By our baptism, we are called by name by the thought of my future. to continue the mission of Jesus. Show me how to walk forward Give us the grace to listen one day at a time. with an open heart to the voice of Jesus May I hear your call and to respond generously with a joyful spirit. to a life which will allow me to love Strengthen the men and women you called as only I can, to serve through marriage, the single life, and allow me to serve others the diaconate, priesthood, and consecrated life. with the special gifts Guide all who are discerning their Christian vocation. you have given me. In gratitude we offer this prayer through Jesus, Amen Amen VOCATIONS SUNDAY REFLECTION: 1. Every single person has a vocation, a calling, a dream held for us by God as to who God would have us be and what God would have us do with our lives. When we speak of “praying for vocations” it is somewhat inaccurate. Vocations are freely given by God. What we are really praying for is God’s help to find and follow our own particular call. At this time in our part of the world, the call to a life of priesthood or religious life in the Church is not very popular, for a variety of reasons. It’s not so much that God is not calling, so much as people might not be tuned in too well to listening! Listening is at two levels -‐ the individual level of God’s call to me but also in the Church listening to the Holy Spirit in how it presents God’s calls to us. As well as full time ministry, every community has a need for willing people to serve as readers, ministers of the Eucharist, Mass servers, catechists or members of various committees. God’s Kingdom needs people willing to say yes and give their hands, feet and hearts. God is saying, “Whom shall I send?” What are you saying in reply? 2. “Behind and before every vocation to the priesthood or Religious life there is always the strong and intense prayer of someone: a grandmother, a grandfather, a mother, a father, a community…. This is why Jesus said: “Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest,” that is, God the Father, “to send out labourers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38). Vocations are born in prayer and from prayer; and only through prayer can they persevere and bear fruit. I am pleased to stress this today, which is the “World Day of Prayer for Vocations.” Pope Francis PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY: The SHARE Collection this weekend is being replaced by a Special Collection for the training of those studying for the Priesthood in the Dublin Diocese. Those preparing for the priesthood receive no assistance from any source to support their training other than this annual collection and the fund-‐raising of St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society. We ask your generous support. "EXAM MASS: Our annual Mass for all those preparing to undertake 3rd level and professional exams and assessments over the coming weeks takes place on THIS SUNDAY 26TH APRIL AT THE 5.30PM MASS IN ST. SYLVESTER'S CHURCH. All welcome." CONGRATULATIONS to the pupils from St. Oliver Plunkett’s and St. Andrew’s Schools who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Wed & Thurs. The ceremony on both days was meaningful and moving and all were impressed with the wonderful way those receiving the sacrament participated in the ceremony and displayed great maturity and understanding of what was taking place. We hope they may always be open to the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit in their lives. We congratulate their parents and families whom we know are very proud of their child. We thank their teachers who had them excellently prepared for Confirmation and the school choirs who th
added greatly to the occasion. Our thanks to the 5 class parents for the lovely refreshments and all in the schools for their help and support in making both days very special. Our thanks to all in the church and the Parish Centre whose help with the ceremony was very much appreciated. We thank the Lord for the occasion itself and the wonderful sunshine that decorated both days. st

MARIAN MOVEMENT: Parish Cenacle -‐ Wednesdays @8pm -‐ St. Sylvester’s -‐ Rosary, Adoration, Consecration to Immaculate Heart of Mary QUESTIONS: Why do you press harder on a remote-‐control when you know the battery is dead? Isn’t it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do ‘Practice’? Before they invented drawing boards, what did they go back to? How is it possible to have a ‘civil war’? If all the world is a stage, where is the audience sitting? If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done? If quitters never win and winners never quit, what foolishness came up with the phrase ‘Quit while you’re ahead’? **PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: The current term of the Parish Pastoral Council ends in June.
