13th annual European Summer School: "Challenges for Europe: Regional Integration in a
Fragmented World”
EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy – a Prague-based think-tank that undertakes program,
project, publishing and training activities related to the European integration process - organizes
13th annual European Summer School for university students in July 2015. The programme titled
"Challenges for Europe: Regional Integration in a Fragmented World" will take place in Prague.
We would like to draw your attention to our website (www.europeum.org/ess), where lectures and
program have been updated. The summer programme has been granted a patronage by the
European Commission Representation in the Czech Republic.

HDI’s Higher Education Alliance
HDI’s Higher Education Alliance helps create the next generation global leaders by connecting
institutions of higher education with the United Nations. HEA provides a comprehensive range of
services, resources and opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience working with the
United Nations and in global affairs.

The HEA Summer Session at the United Nations is a week-long immersion study program that gives
graduate and advanced undergraduate students the opportunity to explore, examine and experience
the inner workings of the world’s premier global governance body—the United Nations as well as
other affiliated international NGO’s and organizations.
The Sessions take place in both New York City and Washington D.C. Students will be required to do
assigned readings before the sessions as well as to record reflections based off the briefings
attended. All participants will be presented with a Certificate of Program Completion at the end of
the Summer Session and be granted the option to receive a letter of recommendation based on their
performance during the program.

IESEG SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
For 2015, IESEG School of Management is proud to announce the launching of a new summer
program focusing on the Fashion Business and that will run alongside our existing International
Summer Academy ( July 1-24, 12 ECTS, 106 contact hours) and Postgraduate Summer Academy (July
6-19, 6 ECTS, 40 teaching hours + company visits).
Taking place from 6-19 July, the International Fashion Business Summer Program combines
theoretical study with hands-on experience from brands in the apparel industry. It aims to provide
students with basic knowledge in all of the key areas associated with the fashion business including
brand development and positioning, marketing, distribution, advertising, and consumer behavior.
Program highlights:
 2 intensive courses taught in English, 40 teaching hours
 Input from companies from the Fashion industry

Technische Universität München Summer Schools 2015
The three to six week long study programs combine challenging academics with a rich menu of
educational and social activities.
The three week summer program “Information Technology – Innovations for the Future” introduces
to the most innovative training and research areas of the Technische Universität München in the
field of information technology. Participants are given the opportunity to make themselves familiar
with the German research scene and exchange experience in a group of young, international
students.
They hereby learn German intensively, are immersed in the culture of everyday life in Germany and
visit high-tech locations in and around this city.
This program will take place from June 1st to June 21st 2015
Finding Nano
This six week intensive program offers a nanotechnology lecture and a lab course in English, with site
visits to leading research centres, and an intensive German language course offered both at beginner
and intermediate levels. The Summer School is directed to undergraduates of science and
engineering who have completed an introduction to quantum mechanics or quantum chemistry.
This program will take place from June 15th - July 26th 2015.
The four week summer school “Engineering and Management across Cultures” provides
an introduction to key TUM research areas: Geodesy and Management. Students can choose one of
these focuses of the Summer School.
A particular highlight of the course is an intensive seminar of several days taking place either at
the Wettzell observatory or at Straubing Center of Science.
This program will take place from August 03rd- August 27th 2015.

Students select the program which they would like to apply for. They fill in their data and upload the
required documents. Uploaded data could be documents in pdf, word, or jpg. After a successful
registration they will receive a confirmation email automatically and will be informed about their
admission at the beginning of April.

Tradition and Modernity, History and Modern Identity
(Humanities Faculty joint program)
The four-week course is designed to cater Chinese students’ interest focuses on two study areas. One
is the Magyars and Hungarian cultural origins, while the other is the Modernization that has
profoundly altered Hungarian and European civilization and culture. The professional program is
extended with an English language training component at the beginning, while the last week is
practice oriented.

Intercultural Communication from a European Perspective
(Communication and Media Studies Department joint program)
This program partly serves as an introduction to the basic issues and general concepts of intercultural
communication, yet, it’s primary goal is to offer an overview of a wide range of European, and in part
North American, cultural assumptions and phenomena relevant to cross-cultural communication. Its
specific aim is practical: to get the Chinese students acquainted with various facets of European
culture to the extent that they would be able to communicate successfully with people having a
European cultural background. From nonverbal communication to Western business etiquette, from
the representation of male and female roles in the European media to the evolving image of the
Chinese in Anglo-Saxon culture, the program touches on many aspects and levels, and the inherent
diversity, of ‘culture’ in the European Union.
European Union Studies
(Political Science Department)
Students get acquainted with the European Union’s institutions and its current problems. They will
get a better understanding on the EU’s foreign policy, decision-making process and the relationship
between the state, economy and civil organizations. They will attend a course trip to Budapest where
they meet experts, officials and visit all relevant institutions of EU policy making in Hungary.

Students will learn about the work of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National
Assembly and the Representation of the European Commission in Hungary.
Challenges in Renewable Energy Utilization and Sustainable Regional Development
(Institute of Geography and Environmental Sciences)
The rarity of available natural resources and growing uncertainties in the international energy market
make local renewable energy production a crucial issue worldwide. Our program offers an
interdisciplinary study program for international students combining components of geography,
energetics and regional development. Beyond introduction into different renewable energy
resources (sun, wind, geothermal, water, waste and biomass) a special focus is put on the socioeconomic challenges local and regional renewable energy production and consumption faces.
Students will be provided with the knowledge and skills that help them to resolve some major
problems concerning renewable energy utilization, such as: determination of natural potential, major
obstacles of exploitation, alternative technical solutions, basics of economic use, social and
development issues. State-of-the-art geographical information systems (GIS) can supply a useful
method for the estimation of energy potential of certain places furthermore can help decisionmaking concerning renewable energy related investments as well. Accordingly students will be
introduced into the utilization of such systems.
Although the program provides a global view, it mainly concentrates on the summit of European and
Hungarian achievements in this field.
The curriculum provides opportunities for experiential learning via a domestic field trip. Students can
visit some key actors of renewable energy sector in North Hungary. As an exit measure to the
courses, all students have to prepare an organized course-note additionally an essay must be created
connecting theoretical information and on-field experiences.
ICT in Education
(Media-Informatics Institute)
This program familiarizes participants with the latest theoretical and practical aspects of the given
discipline, enhances all skills and aptitudes along with practical experiences required by the teaching
profession. Students will learn about the preparation of multimedia instruction materials and the
relevant support tools. Participants of the program should be able to elaborate digitally stored –
interactive multimedia e-learning –course materials combining written text, still and motion picture
images, charts, video and animation via the use of relevant hardware and media devices. The scope
of competences, related knowledge, personal aptitudes, skills, applicability of respective
qualifications in specified environments and activity contexts, the concept of connectivism based
learning, learning management.
Business Management Studies
(Economics Institute)
European Management is a study program combining components of marketing management,
organization and business management, strategic management, managerial economics and
business communication studies with special focus on European aspects of the managerial
competencies.
Students will be provided with the knowledge and skills - such as the tools of corporate marketing
and communication, strategic planning and managerial economics - that help them to be able to
cooperate and work with European partners or in European environment.

Social Cost-Benefit Analysis course, Tallinn (Estonia)
Aim: to offer an overview of conceptual foundations and main methods of valuation applied in the
social cost-benefit analysis and thereby to develop analytical skills, which are based on sociallyoriented economic thinking.
What do you get: An overview of the conceptual foundations of social cost-benefit analysis. Review
of the underlying principles and main methods of valuation of social costs and benefits, which can be
used in valuation of market-goods as well as non-market-goods, such as public goods, life and time.
Workshop about contingent valuation methods and methods that are based on observed behavior.
Know-how, how to identify and evaluate the social costs and benefits associated with the projects
and programs of public or private sectors and to assess whether the projects are desirable from
society’s point of view.

EBS LAW SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM
European Business Law: Expertise for success
1-26 June 2015




Gain academic credits in an intensive four-week academic summer programme.
Obtain a solid introduction to EU law first hand from renowned legal scholars and
experienced practitioners.
Choose from 6 electives dealing with a variety of current European law topics.
Visit some of the EU’s most prominent institutions, such as the European Central Bank and
the European Court of Justice.
Who can apply?
The programme is designed for advanced undergraduate as well as graduate students of law or
business law (applicants should have at least completed the first year of their legal studies). As the
programme is taught in English, students are required to have a high command of the English
language. We recommend that students achieve a score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT test (or
equivalent).
Students from institutions partnered with the EBS are exempt from tuition fees for this programme;
however, they may be required to pay tuition fees at their home universities. Students from nonpartner institutions are assessed a tuition fee of 4000 Euros plus the applicable service fee.
The programme is designed for advanced undergraduate as well as graduate students of law or

120-hour intensive language courses Polish / German!
We are happy to offer your students a very affordable and very interesting course format. The
language courses consist of 92 hours language instruction and 28 hours academic course in the
respective language. The cost per course is only 350€.
The participants will have the opportunity to study in an environment with native speakers of both
Polish and German, will study alongside Viadrina students and will have a cultural immersion
experience.
The language courses are a track within program “Contact Zones in Central Europe”, May 25 to July
4, and the program takes place directly at the German-Polish border.
Program fees:
350€ for a language course (either German or Polish, academic course included)
250€ registration fee
Course materials, a city tour in Berlin is included, so are social events like the welcome reception,
international evenings, and excursions within the courses.
The students will have to cover the following costs during their stay:
