2015 MIFGS Award Winners Announced

The 20 annual Melbourne International Flower & Garden (MIFGS) Show blossomed into action this morning
by announcing the winners of the Show Garden Design Awards.
The very best in the landscape and floral design industries went toe to toe at the Royal Exhibition Building and
Carlton Gardens in what is the largest and most significant award ceremony for the garden industry in the
Southern Hemisphere.
Marking the first day of the five-day Show, the Show Garden Design Awards recognises excellence across
landscape design. The coveted City of Melbourne Award of Excellence for Best in Show was awarded to
‘Quietude’ designed by Cycas Landscape Design & Lisa Ellis Gardens, presented by the Lord Mayor Robert
Doyle.
Led by six time exhibitor Mark Browning, who picked up both the Gold Show Garden and Best in Show awards
in 2014, ‘Quietude’ was created in conjunction with designer Lisa Ellis and celebrates outdoor life, horticulture
and bespoke Australian product.
The Gold Show Garden Awards were presented to:


‘Quietude’ designed by Cycas Landscape Design & Lisa Ellis Gardens

‘Crossroads’ designed by Ian Barker Gardens, presented by Australian House & Garden

‘Equilibrium’ designed & constructed by Nathan Burkett Design
Holmesglen Institute and the Australian Association of Floral Designers both received the Gold Floral Design
Award.
The RMIT Floral Fashion Trophy was awarded to Renae Cusmano.
Marjorie Milner College picked up both first and second place in the Floral Vignette competition.
The winner of the Avenue of Achievable Gardens Award was ‘Rosseau’s Jungle’ presented by Heather Forward
of the University of Melbourne.
First place for the Landscaping Victoria Boutique Gardens Award went to Alison Douglas Design for ‘Pipe
Dream’ while the Honda Sustainability Award was presented to ‘Food Forest’ designed by Phillip Withers,
presented by Limetree Alfresco and constructed by Semken Landscaping.
The Mark Bence Construction Award was awarded to ‘Equilibrium’ designed & constructed by Nathan Burkett
Design.
Kathleen Rushford, Event Manager at IMG said the standard of entries was outstanding.

The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show will be held from Wednesday, 25 March until Sunday, 29
March, from 9am – 5pm daily. Tickets are available to purchase at the gate.
