Vi Living (formerly Classic Residence By Hyatt)
Vi Living (formerly Classic Residence By Hyatt) Vi Living is a 19-acre continuing-care community located near Stanford University, offering senior residents access to many cultural, medical, and community resources. Outdoor garden spaces were designed to create a strong social community that encourages residents to take advantage of outdoor trails and gardens. The project, built on an existing brownfield site, was designed to preserve hundreds of oaks and redwoods and the environmentally sensitive rare native plants and wildlife habitat, including some endangered species. Drought-tolerant native plants were propagated from original local seedlings and planted into the site to preserve native plant life. Rain gardens were designed to recharge 90 percent of the ground water, filtering runoff before it enters the environmentally sensitive San Francisquito Creek. Recycled local materials, including gravel from the site’s former roads, were also used.
