Biosketch sample Professor San-Yuan Chen
Dr. San-Yuan Chen was born in 1959 in Taiwan. Dr. Chen
obtained his BS degree in Department of Earth Sciences, National
Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan, in 1982. Next, he gained the
Master degree from Institute of Materials Sciences and Engineering,
National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan in 1984. After served in
Industry Technology Research Institute army for 6 years, he was
offered to be a research assistant and received his PhD degree from
Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of
Michigan in 1994. Next, Dr. Chen was hired as research fellow to
work in MCR/ITRI for 2 years. At 1996, he was offered for Associate Professor and promoted to be
a Professor in Department of Material Science and Engineering at National Chiao Tung University,
Taiwan. He currently is a Distinguished Professor/Department of Materials Science and
Engineering, Director/Institute of Nanotechnology at National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu,
Taiwan. His current researches have been focused on nanobiomaterials, nanomedicine, synthesis
and design of drug/gene delivery system, and functional Inorganic nanomaterials and thin-film
Processing. Dr. Chen has received numerous awards such as Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Chair Professor
(2014), National Science Council Outstanding Research Award (2013), Professor Chao-Jen Lee
Award (2013), and Y-Z HSU Science and Technology Award (2009), National Science Council
Outstanding Research Award (2008), National Innovation Award for Biotechnology and Medicine
Industry (2007), (2008). Distinguished Engineering Professor Award from Chinese Engineering
Institute (2005). Excellent Research Award from National Chiao Tung University (2003). Secondclass Research Award from National Science Council (2005-2007) Marquis Who's Who in the
World (2006~). He has published 200 scientific papers and received 21 international patents. Those
papers have been cited over 4 times with an h-index of 36.
