INNOVATIVE DAMPER PRODUCTS • THERMALLY INSULATED DAMPERS • AIR-FOIL CONTROL DAMPERS • SMOKE DAMPERS • BACK DRAFT DAMPERS MAINTENANCE-FREE DUAL BEARING SYSTEM TAMCO’s Dual Bearing System is a self-sealing, self-lubricating, and non-absorbent assembly. It will never require additional lubrication and ensures totally maintenance-free performance. Metal-on-metal steel, bronze or oil-lite bearings and metalon-plastic nylon bearings have traditionally been one of the weakest links in damper operation, requiring regular lubrication or eventual replacement. TAMCO's bearing-to-bearing arrangement eliminates action between metal-to-metal and metalto-plastic riding surfaces. TAMCO’s Dual Bearing System has a service life of 20 years plus. Replacement bearings, which fit TAMCO dampers exclusively, have not been required in over 35 years, when dampers have been installed according to manufacturer's guidelines. Experience the true meaning of service and quality. www.tamcodampers.com MAINTENANCE-FREE PERFORMANCE All TAMCO damper components are designed to provide optimal and completely maintenance-free performance. TAMCO’s slip-proof linkage components keep blades aligned as per factory adjustment. The hexagon design feature of the linkage and pivot elements allow for flat-on-flat press fits, eliminating play and wear. TAMCO SERIES 9000 BF THERMALLY BROKEN FRAME DAMPERS These aluminum, insulated dampers, installed “Flanged to Duct”, create a true thermal barrier between outside air temperature and desired interior temperature. The thermally broken frame, coupled with thermally insulated blades reduces, or eliminates condensation and freeze-up. Energy savings are obtained from the resulting thermal efficiency and low air leakage rates. The TAMCO SERIES 9000 BF is ideal where there are significant indoor and outdoor temperature differentials down to -40°F (-40°C). Silicone blade and side seals are supplied as standard. The TAMCO Series 9000 BF is available with the ECT Option and specifically designed for extreme cold temperatures, below -40°F (-40°C)) and down to -100°F (--73°C). The formula for ECT silicone seals is the same as the one used by NASA for its Aerospace program. AIR LEAKAGE: Leakage Class 1A at 1 in w.g. (0.25 kPa) static pressure differential. Standard air leakage data is certified under the AMCA Certified Ratings Program. *TAMCO recommends that the 9000 BF damper not be “Installed in Duct”, as duct work creates a thermal bridge. TAMCO SERIES 9000 THERMALLY INSULATED DAMPERS TAMCO’s thermally insulated blades are constructed using an aluminum shell, injected with polyurethane foam. The optimum placement of three thermal breaks along the blades isolates the warm and cold sides of the damper, and the non-metallic blade and side seals minimize thermal bridging across blade surfaces. These design features combine to control the forces of radiation, convection, and infiltration, and thus ensure blade insulating effectiveness. The TAMCO SERIES 9000 supplies extremely flexible silicone side seals and EPDM blade gaskets This series is available with the SC Option upgrade. Both blade and frame seals are silicone, and are virtually unaffected by cold winter temperatures, down to -40°F (-40°C). This option ensures minimal change in leakage rates as temperature drops and is ideal for severe cold weather applications. Series 9000 dampers are also available with the SW Salt Water Resistance Option. AIR LEAKAGE: Leakage Class 1A at 1 in w.g. (0.25 kPa) static pressure differential. Standard air leakage data is certified under the AMCA Certified Ratings Program. Air leakage for a 36” x 36” SERIES 9000 SC does not exceed 1.35 cfm/ft² at -40°F (-40°C). TAMCO SERIES 1500 ENHANCED AIR-FOIL CONTROL DAMPERS The TAMCO SERIES 1500 is an ultra low leakage, aluminum, airfoil blade damper, with all of the maintenance-free bearing and linkage components of other quality TAMCO products. It is an ideal, non-insulated specification choice for energy efficient, outside wall dampers, installed in warmer climates. The SERIES 1500 utilizes end caps installed on the hollow airfoil blades. This improves sealing on the damper sides and further reduces leakage rates. Silicone seals are provided as standard, to ensure tight sealing in either colder, or warmer climates. Series 1500 dampers are available with the following options: ET Elevated Temperature Option, MR Moisture Resistance Option, and SW Salt Water Resistance Option. AIR LEAKAGE: Leakage Class 1A at 1 in w.g. (0.25 kPa) static pressure differential. Standard air leakage data is certified under the AMCA Certified Ratings Program. SALT WATER RESISTANCE OPTION - FOR SERIES 9000, 1000, 1500 & 1400 TAMCO dampers with the Salt Water Resistance Option maintain all of the dependability and durability of the Dual Bearing System, the advantages of aluminum construction, and maintenancefree operation. The added features of this option (stainless steel hardware - anodized parts, blades, and frames) enhance resistance to salt spray and airborne salt particles, and provide an ideal solution for high humidity applications. Blade gaskets and side seals for dampers with the Salt Water Resistance Option are provided in silicone. Experience the true meaning of service and quality. TAMCO SERIES 1000 AIR-FOIL CONTROL DAMPERS The TAMCO Series 1000 is an all aluminum damper supplied with silicone frame seals and EPDM blade seals as standard. The aluminum extrusions contribute to a prolonged and rust-free operational life. Silicone and EPDM seals provide outstanding dynamic fatigue resistance that ensure sealing longevity, plus excellent resistance to weathering, compression set, and heat. Maintenance-free SERIES 1000 dampers are an excellent, reasonably priced choice for replacing worn out dampers. Series 1000 dampers are available with the following options: ET Elevated Temperature Option, MR Moisture Resistance Option, and SW Salt Water Resistance Option. AIR LEAKAGE: Leakage rate through a 36” x 36” (915 mm x 915 mm) at 1 in w.g. (0.25 kPa), at ambient temperature, is no greater than 2.19 cfm/ft² (11.13 l/s/m²). TAMCO SERIES 1000 SM UL/ULC APPROVED SMOKE DAMPERS Leakage Rating: Class 1 Operational Airflow: 2000 fpm (10.2 m/s). Rated for airflow in either direction. Rating: Temperature: 250°F (121°C ) Pressure: 4” w.g. (1 kPa) static pressure differential Fail Position: Closed TAMCO smoke dampers are UL/ULC rated Leakage Class 1, the best possible leakage class attainable. These dampers are manufactured with aluminum extrusions, which contribute to a prolonged and rust-free operational life. Extremely flexible silicone seals provide excellent resistance to heat, weathering, and compression set, thus ensuring sealing longevity. The bearings are composed of a 2 part (inner and outer) bronze oilite bearing system, fixed to an aluminum hexagonal blade pivot pin. This system prevents direct rotation of the bearings within the frame and around the axle. TAMCO smoke dampers are approved for use in passive systems, smoke control systems, and smoke management systems, and are intended for installation in ducts and air transfer openings that are designed to resist the passage of air and smoke. Smoke dampers may be required where ducts penetrate though smoke barriers, or at other locations within an engineered smoke control system. They are installed to operate automatically, controlled by a smoke detection system, and where required, capable of being positioned from a remote command station. SUCCESS A DALEY OCCURRENCE AT TAMCO Mr. Dan Romero, Chief Engineer at the Richard J. Daley Center, Chicago, headed the project to retrofit one of the key systems in this building. The primary requirement was to find a low-leakage, maintenancefree damper product that could withstand 9 inches of static pressure. A meeting between Stern Mechanical, Mr. Romero and Mr. Jim Karambelas of EIP was instrumental in developing a plan for TAMCO to supply more than 2,700 square feet of dampers for this job. The damper selected was the Series 1500 (AMCA certified at 1.7 cfm/sq.ft. at 1 inch of static pressure). The application also called for the use of specially designed, TAMCO horizontal and vertical jack shafts. Pneumatic actuators were used in a tandem position, as shown in the picture to the right. MB Real Estate was so pleased with TAMCO’s product and service that they have decided to replace all of the other existing dampers, with TAMCO dampers for the rest of this project.
