Since the first Contender pistol was made in 1967, the Contender pistol
has been the choice of serious handgun hunters throughout the world.
• More clearance between the grip and
the trigger guard. New ergonomic grip.
The reputation this pistol has achieved in terms of its versatility,
"minute of angle" accuracy and proven long range performance is
unquestioned. When demanding hunters and IHMSA target shooters
wanted a handgun that would perform, they chose the Contender.
• Incorporates a Patented automatic
hammer block safety with built-in interlock.
• Allows shooters to cock the hammer, lower
it, and re-cock it without the need to break
the action open again.
Now, 35 years later, the second generation Contender Pistol emerges
and it only got better.
Maintaining the same barrel interchangeability, the same time proven
long range accuracy, and the same adaptability of converting to rim fire
or center fire, the new G2 Contender has added some features which
make it even more user friendly in the field. In addition, the grip, frame,
and forend have been profiled and sculpted for a more modern and
streamlined appearance. Size and weight remained approximately the
same, adding less than 1/10th of a pound to the frame assembly.
G2 Contender Compatibility with Old-Style Contenders:
The G2 Contender frame will accept all Contender barrels and
their corresponding forends (except Herrett forend). The G2
frame will not accept old-style grips because of the change in grip
angle. Blued or stainless barrels are readily interchangeable.

Barrels for the G2 Contender can be changed in seconds by
removing the forend and tapping out the barrel/frame hinge pin.
All Contender barrels will fit; blued and stainless barrels
are interchangeable.
Hammer is equipped with an external manual firing pin selector, which adjusts to activate a dual
firing pin arrangement, allowing use of appropriate
rim fire or center fire barrels.
By simply pulling up and back on the trigger guard spur - you can
open the G2 Contender action to load and unload the chamber.

The G2 Contender rifle is a compact rifle boasting the same versatility
and accuracy found with the G2 Contender pistol.
It features readily interchangeable 23" barrels, enabling the shooter
to select from 9 different cartridge options; from 17 Mach2 and 17
HMR, up to 6.8 Rem, 375 JDJ or 45/70 Gov't.; even a .50 cal muzzleloading barrel. In addition, all of the 16 1/4" and 21" barrels made
for the old style Contender will readily fit the new G2 frame. The high
comb on the buttstock allows the shooter's eye to be in perfect alignment when using a scope.
Its versatility, with regards to selecting either rimfire or centerfire
barrels, makes it a multi-use rifle. It's an ideal plinker, small game
and varmint rifle, and is one of the lightest hard-hitting deer rifles
there is. It's as home in a trapper's pack basket as it is in deer camp.
...And As a “carry gun”, they don’t get any better. It will become your
favorite in any of the seasons.
With the introduction of the G2 Contender rifle, also comes the introduction of a .50 caliber muzzleloading barrel. Converting from centerfire to a muzzleloader is as simple as changing barrels and
forends.

the 6.8 Remington SPC (Special Purpose Cartridge) is designed to provide
greater lethality and better long range performance than the current 5.56 mm
military round.
The 6.8 Remington is based on the old .30 Remington case, shortened

Thompson/Center 375 JDJ Cartridges
Based on the 444 Marlin case, necked down to .375 caliber - it uses Hornady's 220 grain flat
point bullet to generate a muzzle velocity of 2300 fps - enough to dispatch deer and other game
animals up to 500 lbs.
Since 1977, the 375 JDJ has proved itself time and time again and it has taken most of the animals
hunted throughout the world. 19 elephants in 1984 were taken with the 375 JDJ and it has become
to handguns what the 375 H&H is to rifles. But as good as the round was, it was only available to
those who wanted to handload.
In cooperation with J. D. Jones and Hornady Ammunition, Thompson/Center Arms is making the

Closed Breech Action: The G2 Contender Magnum Muzzleloader is a closed-breech break-open
action with an exposed hammer and a Patented automatic hammer block (Pat. #5,680,722), making the

This conversion kit allows you to convert your T/C Thunder Hawk, FireHawk or System 1 to 209
shotgun primer ignition. Most 209 shotgun primers burn 7000 hotter than conventional No.11
percussion caps. When used in conjunction with T/C’s 209 Flame Thrower Adapter, the 209 volume of fire is increased by 3X. 3X the fire, 7000 hotter, and the advantages of a self contained

The growing trend among muzzleloading hunters
is to scope their muzzleloaders.
More and more muzzleloading hunters are electing to scope their
muzzleloaders. Scoping a muzzleloader generally improves a shooters efforts in realizing the true accuracy potential of his rifle at 100
yards or more. With a scoped muzzleloading rifle, sighting game is
easier, quicker, and more precise, especially in low light conditions.
Hunters who have less than perfect vision often find that by scoping
their muzzleloader, they increase their success in the field.
There’s a specific power of magnification available
to suit the needs of most hunters.
T/C’s Hawken Hunter Series of Muzzleloading scopes provides an
array of magnifications available. From 1X power (no magnifica-
tion) up to 9X, both Eastern and Western hunters have 6 models
to select from, enabling them to match the hunting conditions
they may encounter.
