CLASS OF 2022
Constructive and Destructive Processes Science Project Choice Board/ Due by Feb. 6th
Common Core Georgia Performance Standards: Earth Science
S5E1. Students will identify surface features of the Earth caused by constructive and
destructive processes.
a. Identify surface features caused by constructive processes.
• Deposition (Deltas, sand dunes, etc.)
• Earthquakes
• Volcanoes
• Faults
b. Identify and find examples of surface features caused by destructive processes.
• Erosion (water—rivers and oceans, wind)
• Weathering
• Impact of organisms
• Earthquake
• Volcano
Task: Choose one of the projects below to complete. Please put an X over the project that you completed and
return this sheet with your project on February 6th .
Project 1- Venn Diagram
Create a Double-Bubble Map
which compares and contrasts
destructive and constructive
forces
Make sure that your diagram is
neat and includes the following
Project 2- Famous Landform
Select a famous landform that
was created as a result of a
destructive process, constructive
process, or both. Ex. Stone
Mountain, Grand Canyon, Death
Valley, Indonesia’s Krakatau, etc.
At least 3 descriptive details for
constructive
At least 3 descriptive details for
destructive
At least 3 descriptive details for
both processes
Create a visual representation of
the landform and explain how the
landform was formed by
constructive processes destructive
processes or both.
(You may create a model of the
landform)
Project 4- Landform Poster
Select 3 landforms, three
created by constructive forces
(ex. Dune of Pilat) OR three
created by destructive forces
(ex. Underground cave). Draw
pictures of these, and briefly
describe how each are formed.
You may choose to present this
information in a PowerPoint
presentation or another creative
way.
Project 5- Identifying Processes
Identify at least 3 constructive
processes and explain how each
process changes the earth
(surface features created as
result of process)
OR
Identify at least 3 destructive
processes and explain how each
process changes the earth
Project 3- Landform Story
Landform Story. Write a
fictional story that describes
how weathering, erosion, and
deposition work together to
create a landform. Write this
from the perspective of a rock
particle that goes through all
three of these processes.
Project 6- Mini-Dictionary
Define and illustrate the
following terms (9 total)
Constructive Process
Destructive Process
Erosion
Weathering
Deposition
Glacier
Earthquake
Volcano
Fault
