Chapter goals are to provide community service in collaboration with the local network of services for the aging; promote fellowship; provide education and socialization for members; and
plan new directions for people age 50 and over, serving their needs and interests. Nonpartisan and non-political programs include chapter meetings, newsletter, legislative updates,
educational speakers, participation in state sponsored events and special local events. Luncheon meetings usually include a guest presenter and are held at 11:30 am on the 2nd Thursday
of the month at the Holiday Inn at Exit 4 in Nashua. Membership fee is $10 per person.

The Actorsingers is a nonprofit community theater organization dedicated to performing highquality musicals. The Actorsingers produce two adult major musicals per season, as well as a
children's musical (Junior Actorsingers) each spring and a teen musical each summer (Teen
Actorsingers). All auditions and rehearsals are held at Actorsingers Hall, 219 Lake Street,
Nashua, NH. The Broadway shows are staged at the Edmund Keefe Auditorium, Elm Street,
Nashua. Board meetings are held monthly. An annual meeting is held in June. The semiannual meeting is held in January. Membership dues are $10.00 for an individual and $15 for a

The AAUW is a national and international organization that promotes equity for women through
advocacy, research and education. In addition to branch-wide activities, which include social
events and fundraisers to support our scholarship, we offer smaller interest groups that include
a book discussion group, a gourmet dinner group, and a daytimers group that ventures to local
attractions. Monthly meetings are held at various locations within the local area from
September through June of each year. Membership is open to women of all ages from
southern New Hampshire that hold a degree or associate degree from an accredited college
or university. Annual dues are $60.

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will
provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. There are no membership restrictions. Most Health and Safety Courses have fees. All emergency services are free.
Available programs include:
 Disaster relief - food, clothing, lodging, eye glasses, prescription medications, and mental
health services to victims of disaster.
 Liaison for emergency communications to/from military personnel in times of crisis.
 Health and Safety - Adult, Infant and/or Child CPR; first aid; automated external defibrillator
(AED); babysitter training; water safety courses; school safety programs offering free Basic Aid
Training (BAT) and First Aid for Children Training (FACT); Preventing Disease TransmissionBloodborne Pathogens; and Pet First Aid.

The league is a community resource dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets; caring
for companion animals afflicted by neglect, abandonment and cruelty; enhancing the
relationship between people and pets through adoption education, compassion, and

pm.

The CareGivers, Inc. is a small, private, grassroots nonprofit with the mission to help the frail,
elderly, and disabled maintain their independence and dignity through the spirit of
volunteerism. The CareGivers recruits, screens, trains, and coordinates volunteers to offer
presence and assistance to those in need through transportation, a mobile food pantry, companionship, community workshops, and service projects. Programs and services are free of
charge and help vulnerable individuals remain independent in their homes and connected to
their communities.

This organization’s purpose is to empower New Hampshire families battling childhood cancer
through the provision of resources, information, and hope. We provide direct financial assistance and host family outings, including a family camp in conjunction with YMCA Camp Coniston. We also have a laptop program for newly diagnosed school and children with cancer,
and a scholarship program for childhood cancer survivors who graduate from a NH high
school.

The Craftworker’s’ Guild is a community-based nonprofit organization which promotes an
appreciation for arts and crafts and fosters excellence in craftsmanship. The Guild shop is
located in the historic Oliver Kendall House behind the Bedford Library, and will be open for
3 juried shows in 2015: The Spring Fair (April 30-May 9), the Harvest Fair (Oct. 1-12). And
the Holiday Fair (Nov. 27-Dec. 22). All shows are open daily from 10 an to 4 pm, with free
admission and parking. A portion of the sales from these shows supports the Guild's education fund which offers programs (speakers, demonstrations) which are open to the public
and also awards grants to Bedford schools for innovative arts and crafts programs. Monthly
meetings are held from September to May in various local venues (see web site for more
information www.thecraftworkersguild.org). Members are expected to assist with the many
volunteer activities necessary to support the Guild’s efforts. Annual dues are $25 and
membership is open not only to artists and crafters, but to anyone interested in supporting
the arts and crafts.

The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc. (EGA) is an educational, nonprofit organization
founded "to foster the highest standards of excellence in the practice of the art of
embroidery through an active program of education and study, and to preserve the heritage
of the art of embroidery." Activities include lectures, workshops, seminars, demonstrations,
correspondence courses, community outreach projects, and stitch-ins. Meetings are held
the 3rd Monday of each month at 7 pm at the John O'Leary Adult Community Center.
There are also other area and chapter meetings at various locations and dates. The annual
primary membership fee is $40, plural membership fee is $5.

The Exchange Club is a community service organization of business and professional men
and women. The major emphasis is on service to the community, especially to youth.
Prevention of child abuse and recognition of students at Merrimack High School are among
our activities. The organization supports other activities for children and youth, including Cans
for Kids, Candidates’ Night, gun locks (with Police Dept.), a high school scholarship, and financial support to Merrimack food pantries. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of
each month at 6:30 pm at Jade Dragon Restaurant.
Membership dues are collected quarterly. New members are welcome.

Families in Transition is a nonprofit organization that has served thousands of homeless men,
women, and children in the Southern New Hampshire area since 1991. It’s mission is to provide
safe, affordable housing and social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at
risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect. As one of the
largest housing and supportive service providers in Southern New Hampshire, and having experienced unprecedented growth due to increased need, Families in Transition continues to proudly
honor its tradition of success for people who complete the program by transitioning into permanent housing.

The purpose of the Friends of the Merrimack Public Library is to promote increased awareness and use
of the Merrimack Public Library. Activities include sponsoring special fundraisers and events, and purchasing various items of need for the library.
