JUNIOR CLUB Spring 2015
(Bridge Program)

At Middletown Ice World
www.gardenstatesc.org
What Is It?
The Garden State Skating Club is proud to continue our innovative program for
the 2014-2015 Basic Skills season. The Garden State Skating Club Junior Program
is being held on Fridays from 4:00pm to 4:30pm (30 minutes) for six weeks.
Once a week, students will participate in an on-ice segment taught by Garden
State Skating Club senior coaches. The on-ice curriculum includes components
such as stroking and edges, power skating, introductory moves-in-the-field, spins,
and jumps. Students will be exposed to Garden State Skating Club sessions and
all it has to offer.
This class is ideal for children looking to take the next step after Learn to Skate to
become a more competitive skater. This class is taught in a group format but the
children will be exposed to other competitive skater. The instructional part of the
class will be held from 4:00 – 4:30 but then the children will be encouraged to
stay on the ice and practice from 4:30 – 5:00.
Who Can Participate?
The class is open skaters who have completed at least SnowPlow Sam 3 or Basic 2
and have their own skates. The skaters will be broken up into similar levels, based
on the number of students who sign up for the classes. Anyone who is a member
of US Figure Skating through the basic skills program (Middletown Skating
Academy) or a member of the Garden State Skating Club is welcome to sign-up
for these classes. Basic skills students also qualify for the GSSC “Jr” membership
which is given at a reduced rate for the first year of membership, although this is
not a requirement to participate. All members receive full US Figure Skating
membership, Skating Magazine, and the ability to participate in exhibitions, tests
and other events put on by the GSSC.
When Is It?
The Junior Program will be conducted on Fridays from 4:00pm to 4:30pm, April 24
– May 29 2015.
