Health and Water Safety 11TH ANNUAL MCC AQUATIC LEADERSHIP BLITZ, May 7-10, 2015 The Midland Community Center’s aquatic training center, in conjunction with the American Red Cross is hosting its 11th Annual Aquatic Leadership Blitz to promote health and water safety through professional development in the field of aquatic leadership. New and recertification programs are offered in a variety of areas. See other side of for all classes offered. LIFEGUARDING #31910A $230 THU & FRI 5:00–9:30PM, SAT 8:00AM–5:00PM, SUN 9:00AM–5:00PM American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid and CPR-PR Training: PREREQUISITES: Swim 300 yards continuously using breaststroke and front crawl, swim 20 yards and dive to a 7 foot depth and retrieve a 10 lb object, return to the starting point and climb out of the pool. Tread water for 2 min. legs only. Must be 15 years old. Cost includes all books, pocket masks, and certification cards. Pre-Course work required. LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR (LGI ) #31917A $230 THU & FRI 5:00-9:30PM, SAT 8:00AM-5:00PM, SUN 9:00AM-5:00PM American Red Cross certification for instructing lifeguarding. PREREQUISITES: Current lifeguarding/first aid and CPR-PR certifications; these skills will be tested before admittance to class. Must be 17 years old. NO MAKE-UP SESSIONS WILL BE GIVEN. Cost includes all books, and certification cards. Pocket masks are required. Pre-course work required. PREREQUISITES: good personal swimming skills, front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke, side stroke, elementary back stroke. Must be 16 years old. Cost includes all books and materials and certification cards. Pre-Course work required. LIFEGUARD TRAINING RECERTIFICATION #31913A $75 May 8 Thursday 5:00-9:30 PM For those currently certified and needing recertification. This review will cover both lifeguarding and CPR-PR course material. Books will not be supplied; pocket masks are required. Both may be purchased, in advance, at the Aquatic office - $45/book, and $20/mask. Test will include swimming prerequisites, lifeguarding skills CPRPR, backboarding and written test. FIRST AID/CPR/AED FOR SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY #31916B $75 Thursday May 1 and Friday May 2 6:00-9:00PM This class provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until advanced medical help arrives. Participants will learn to identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care. No age requirements or prerequisites apply. Cost includes all books and materials and certification cards. FIRST AID/CPR/AED FOR SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY RECERTIFICATION #31918A $50 Saturday May 9 8:00AM-12PM For those currently certified and needing recertification. Books will not be supplied; pocket masks are not required, face shields will be supplied. Books may be purchased, in advance, at the aquatic office - $40. Must pass both practical and written test.
