2015-2016 Candidature for the MMSA Supervising Council Thomas Gatt MD 3 1 Dear Friends and Colleagues, It is with great pleasure and the utmost sense of responsibility that I present to you my motivational letter for the post of Supervising Council, for the upcoming term; 2015-16. The Malta Medical Student’s Association is one of the most renowned associations on campus and its reputation is one that must be held in the highest regard. After serving two terms in the MMSA Board of Directors, first as Electives Officer , followed by a term as Vice President for Internal Affairs, I feel I have both the passion, dedication and experience required to assume this new role and contribute even further to our association. With my experience, I am able to judge what should and should not occur within the association, and will strive for achieving full transparency and representation without our association. The role of Supervising Council requires impartial decision making, and the ability to work within a team of dedicated individuals; skills I have developed within the past two years of student activism within the MMSA. If elected, I promise to work to the best of my capabilities along with the rest of the Supervising Council, and hand in hand with the rest of the Board of Directors, to maintain the professional integrity our association has become accustomed to. 2 Previous Experience I have always made it a point to take on an extremely active role within the association. I have spent the past year as Vice President for Internal Affairs, where I strived to maintain the professionalism and thorough representation our association has become accustomed to. During this term I was also in charge of the VPI Office which consists of Feedback, Alumni, Project’s and the Policy Team During the term 2013-2014, I served as Electives Officer on the Board of Directors, and worked endlessly to maintain the smoothrunning of the Malta Elective Programme, as well as maintain good relations with medical school. Aside from my regular duties as a BD member, I have also taken on the role of World Diabetes Day Coordinator in the SCOPH team, and together with the other coordinators, was responsible for another successful WDD event.
