Mochitsuki 2016 Stage Coordinator Job Description Mochitsuki is celebrating its 20th year. Many aspects of the stage performance are well established and loved, but there is always room for improvement. The Stage Coordinator has the opportunity to bring fresh ideas to make the stage program a strong attraction and support the overall mission of the event. This is a position that requires energetic ideas, clear communication, knowledge of performance needs, attention to detail and a team spirit. Mochitsuki 2016 will be held Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Portland State University, Smith Memorial Student Center. Planning In collaboration with the Mochitsuki Planning Committee, review past year evaluations and determine: the performers master of ceremonies or other format performance show times budget timeline volunteer needs coordination with Green Room volunteer The stage coordinator is encouraged to suggest new performers or a different format, but will retain many of the current performers. Familiarity with the local community is helpful, but contacts and suggestions will be provided. The timeline for designing the program and confirming the performers is to be coordinated with the overall publicity and sponsorship calendar. The stage coordinator will attend some planning meetings from May to January to confirm arrangements for the stage program, but is welcome and encouraged to attend any planning meetings as his/her time allows. Performer Coordination The Stage Coordinator establishes contact with the performing groups to determine performance time, contact person, stage needs, fees, gather information for publicity, website, written program, MC introduction, and determine availability for pre-event publicity, as well as day of event check in, etc. Event Day Stage Coordinator establishes a day of event load in and technical check process. Directs the stage manager and coordinates with the PSU facility staff. Supervises volunteers for back stage and front of house, with help, if needed Arranges for the greeting and seating of dignitaries like the Consul of Japan Makes sure the program runs smoothly and on time Expresses appreciation to the performers Provides information to the treasurer for performer payment Evaluation Stage coordinator participates in post-event evaluation and provides files and information that are useful for the next year.
