YEAR 3 & 4 HOMEWORK TERM 2 / WEEK 1 Day 1 Spelling “oo” words: Look/Say/Cover/Write/Check your spelling words. Write your 12 words in Alphabetical Order and show the syllables in each one. Day 2 Mental Maths sheet. Aim to complete as much as you can in thirty minutes. Remember you are trying to solve problems with mental strategies. If you complete your Mental Maths sheet under thirty minutes please log onto Mathletics www.mathletics.com with the username and password that is in your diary. Complete the activities in “Addition and Subtraction” unit that your teacher has set for you. It will be checked online by your teacher at the end of the week! View the ABC interactive Gallipoli Website. In a few sentences answer 2 or 3 of the following questions: - Who was involved during the Gallipoli Campaign? - When did the Gallipoli Campaign occur? - Where is Gallipoli? - What was it like for the Australian soldiers who went to Gallipoli? - How do you think the Australian troops would have felt? - Why do you think they fought? Responses then need to be posted on the class blog (your class teacher will show you where to post your responses). Day 4 Think about your last holiday break. In short recount describe: ▪ How long ago was it? ▪ Where did you go? ▪ What was the best thing that you did while you were there? ▪ Who went with you? ▪ How long did it take you to get there? ▪ Where did you stay? CHALLENGE ▪ Imagine you could design your own holiday house. What would the best room in the house look like? What would be in the room? Draw a labeled picture of the room. Reading: 15 minutes nightly (record the title and chapters/page numbers in your diary each night) Have your diary signed at the end of the week. Times Tables: Grade 3s – Revise your 2X tables (doubles) Grade 4s – focus on revising 3X tables this week Refer to your diary for the times tables chart Spelling: Learn words every night for your spelling test on Friday (you may choose to have a parent give you a written test each night, you might complete a look, say, cover, write, check or you may just spell the words orally- you need to find a way that works for you!) Homework is due in on Friday. Don’t forget to bring your diaries and homework books!
