How to Make a Two Button Communication Board for
Go Talk Now
1. This is the home screen for Go Talk
Now
Tap the Player button to access communication
boards
To create a new communication board tap on “Page
Editor” button

2. When the “Pager Editor” button is
tapped this is the next screen
Here is a list of the functions of the buttons along
the bottom of the screen






Left arrow – goes back to the last board used
Home button – Takes you back to the home
page
Page Options – Next slide will explain this in
more detail
Pages – List of communication boards you
can select
Core Vocabulary – Add more button to board
3. Select the “Page Option” button
Page Option Functions






Background – Changes the overall background of
the screen
Buttons – Select for number of buttons for the
page
Scanning Cues – Audio cues can be added if
there are 4 or more buttons selected for the
page.
Enabled – Turn on/off the page
Express Page – Adds a bar across the top or
bottom for buttons to be lined up to play. (This
is easier to understand when demonstated)
To add color, audio, text and/or
images to a button, tap on the button
to be modified

 Action Recorded – add sound, links, video, etc.

Audio Cue – record audio or text-to-speech to
add to button
After Action – this button adds another step to
what happens when the button is activated. (This
will be demonstated for better understanding)

5. Function of the buttons along the
bottom for modifying communication
button
 Background – Change color of background of button
 Border – Change the color around the border of the
button
A Button Text – Add text to button
Add Image – add image through internet search, take
a photo, from the photo library on the iPad or in the
app database
When communication button is complete, tap the
“Done” button

6. After button color changes, text,
image and audio is added, text and
image can be moved, enlarged or made
smaller.




Image and text can be moved around. The
image can be made to fill the box or very
small, by touching fingers to picture and
opening or closing together.
The text can be moved by touching the
word or phrase with a finger and moving it
to the desired place. Text can be enlarged
or made smaller the same way as an image.
Once changes have been made tap “Done”
button
7. Create addition buttons, by following
steps 5 and 6 for each button.

Once changes have been made to button,
tap “Done” to save the modification and to
go back to full page.

8. Each communication page needs to be
named. It is helpful to name the pages with
a word or phrase that describe the activity
To name the communication board
tap on the word “Page” which will be
followed by a number which is centrally
located right under the communication
buttons.

9. Once the communication boad is
name and icon can be added
To add a picture icon tap the “Set Icon” box
between the Page Option button and the page title
A drop down menu will give the option of Internet
Search, Take Photo, from Photo Library
There are two addition choices to “Crop” or Clear
the icon

*This is a process that it is much easier to
demonstrate rather than describe
The “Set Icon” is a box outline button next to the
page title to add icon

10. The Completed Communication Board!!!
As long the board is in “Page
Editor” changes can be made by
tapping on communication buttons,
Page Option, Icon Set button or the
title. All changes are automatically
saved

Click on the “Home” button to return to the
main page
12. To access the communication page tap
the “Player” button
*The “Player” button will open the last
communication board that was used.

13. Tap to activate the communication
button
*To return to the home page, touch
the top of the screen with three
fingers and slide to the bottom of
screen.
