FDK June Newsletter 2015
June 2015
SUPERSTAR NEWS!
Ms Stamkos & Ms Silverberg
We cannot believe that the last
month of school has arrived! We took great
care of our chick eggs and they hatched on
May 28th, 2015! We have had 7 chicks in
our class and have learned so much about
life cycles, non-fiction, and how to care
for living things. Ask your children about
the names of our chicks—in particular our
courageous chick “Bravey!”
Our year together is coming to an end and
we would like to take this opportunity to
congratulate each and every SUPERSTAR
in our class!
Your children have grown into such
remarkable people and have accomplished
so much this year! We feel blessed to have
been their teachers and will never forget
the intelligence, determination, hard work
and FUN we’ve had together this year!
Kindergarten truly marks a special time in
a child’s life and we would like to thank you
for your constant support at home!
We would like to congratulate our SK’s
who are graduating to Grade One! We
are so very proud of the work you
have accomplished these past two
years, and we wish you nothing but
the best in Grade One!
To our wonderful JK’s! You have
continued to surprise us with your
love for learning and consistent
determination! We look forward to
learning and growing together next
year!
You are all our SUPERSTARS!!!
Looking forward to an AMAZING

As the weather gets warmer, please
make sure your child has a reusable
water bottle.
Indoor Shoes
As the weather gets warmer, we ask
that you continue to leave a pair of
indoor shoes here at school. It is also
important that the outdoor shoes
students wear to school are running
shoes (with Velcro) for the days we
have gym outdoors.
Sunscreen and Hats
As the weather is warmer now we
would like to remind you to send your
child with a hat to protect them from
the sun each day. If your child
requires sunscreen, it must be applied
in the morning before they come to
school. If they need to put more on at
lunch time, please have them practice
applying it themselves.
A reminder that SK graduation will be
taking place on the morning of
Wednesday, June 17th. Please make sure
to send in a white oversized dress shirt

Library Books
The week of May 29th was the last week
to take out library books. Starting on
June 1st, we will be collecting library
books. Please make sure that they are
returned to school as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Thank you for sending back your
preferences! We will send you a
reminder notice of when to come and
join us for our Lorax play and for a
year end celebration of our learning!!
We are excited to share with you!
Literacy: In Language, we will be focusing on a variety of blends
(th, ch, sh, wh, ph) and word families. We will also continue to review
all sight words and letters learned this year through a variety of hands
on learning centres. Your children have begun working hard on their
year end memories writing project! Stay tuned for some wonderful
writing (but please don’t ask them too many questions- it’s a
surprise!!!)
Math:
In Math, we will continue our learning about addition, subtraction,
more and less. We will focus on solving mathematical word problems
using these concepts. In addition, we will be exploring Canadian coins.
The coins that we will discuss are the penny, nickel, dime, quarter,
loonie and toonie. You can assist your child in identifying the Canadian
coins on a daily basis (e.g., when you go grocery shopping).
