Spring is here! As you prepare for spring activities,
please keep 4-H in mind. We have many wonderful
activities planned just for you.

Shooting Sports
Our Shooting Sports Program has begun. Our 4-H members
are competing in Pellet Gun, 22 Rifle, Archery, 22 Pistol, and
Shotgun Competitions.
Our District Competition is planned for Saturday, April 25th,
at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy in
Pearl, Mississippi.
Rankin County 4-H Scholarships
Rankin County 4-H members who lived in Rankin County for the last 3 years and
participated in Rankin County 4-H for their 10th, 11th.
And 12th grade years may apply.
Applicants must have completed and turned in a 4-H
Record Book on time for three or more years.
To be considered, complete a 4-H scholarship application, return it to the 4-H office by the 1st Wednesday of
June with 3 years of submitted 4-H Record Books attached.
Late applications and/or late record books will not be considered.
Club Congress
Contests are a great way to learn more about your 4-H Projects and start you on your
way to a career.
Each project has a contest, Horticulture, Forestry, and Dairy Products, are all team
judging with four members on a team.
Do you love fashion? Well...shop for a new outfit and model in the clothing selection
contest or sew a new outfit for the clothing construction contest.
Club Congress is planned for Senior 4-H Youth, ages 14-18, at Mississippi State University, May 27th-May 29th.
Our County Contest is planned for April 27th, at 4:00 p.m. A $70 Dollar deposit is due
on April 30th.
4-H members must participate in the County Contest to be able to attend Congress.
Southwest District Project Achievement Day
The Southwest District Project Achievement Day is planned for
June 17th at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS. The
deadline to enter is May 20th.
County 4-H Horse Shows
Our County 4-H Horse Shows have begun. The
Judged Events and Running Events are scheduled for
April 12th, May 17th, June 21st, and July 19th at
11:00 a.m. at the Rankin County Riding Arena.
District 4-H Horse Shows
To be eligible to participate in the 2015 Southwest District 4-H Horse Show, and
2015 State 4-H Horse Show, the deadline for horse ownership is May 1st.
May 1st is also the deadline for 4-H membership, to be eligible to participate in
the District, and State 4-H Horse Shows.
The District 4-H Horse Show is scheduled for June 11th-13th, at the Equine
Center in Jackson.
The State Show is scheduled for June 23rd-27th, and is also at the Equine Center in Jackson.
The entry deadline for the Southwest District and State 4-H Horse Show is
Thursday, April 24, at 5:00 p.m. at the county 4-H office. The rulebook and all
forms are available at the county office.
