Update on our new e-business tools : Launch date moved from 10 May to 17 May

We recently informed you about the new self-service applications that will soon be available on our website. These ebusiness tools were developed to offer greater flexibility, more features, and a simplified shipping process for you, our
valued customer.
We would like to update you on the launch date for these new features, which has been moved from 10 May to 17
May. On this day, you will be able to start accessing and using the enhanced applications that will make your shipping
experience easy and give you better control over your shipping information:

Amendments: Change and update your shipping instructions with a click of your mouse.
Booking: Review your previous shipment, create new entries, and even duplicate your existing booking
without having to submit all the information again.
ETA Notifications: Customise your ETA notifications so that you can prepare for arrival changes ahead
of time.
MyShipments: Manage and view all your shipment details in one convenient place.
Rates: View your rates, price breakdown, and local charges at any time so you are aware of costs before
taking action.
MyFinance: Access your own financial information directly, 24/7.
Shipping instructions: Submit, copy, and share shipping instructions with your stakeholders.
How to access the online shipping tools starting May 17?
Please visit www.safmarine.com and use your existing log-in details to enter the secure part of the website for
customers and access the existing features and enhanced e-business functionalities.

Implementation of Inspection Empty Container Service (IEC)
Please be advised, Safmarine Bangladesh has decided to implement Inspection Empty Container Service (IEC)

charge effective from 23 May, 2015 (discharge date) for the container stuffed with Wood Log and Steel Coil to
recover the container damage cost.
Charges head: Inspection Empty Container Service (IEC)
Charges Amount: USD 20/30 per 20’/40’ container.
Scope of items: If cargo commodity stuffed with WOOLD LOG/ CONTAINERIZED SQUARE / ROUND LOG/
ROUGHLY SQUARED/ IRON WOOD/ TIMBER/ OKAN LOG & STEEL COIL/BUNDLE.
Charge bearer: Consignee at the time of delivery order issuance.

Changes to local tax application for India shipments where invoice is not paid in India
In Safmarine, we remain committed to creating an easy and simple shipping experience for you. One of the ways to
do this is by informing you about upcoming local government regulations so that you can also prepare ahead of time
for its potential impact on your business.
As such, we want to inform customers located outside of India, who are shipping to and from India, about the India
Service Tax, a government regulated service tax on certain services rendered within India.
The application of the India Service Tax will result in an increase of 12.36 percent on both import and export service
charges including terminal handling, detention, inland haulage, container cleaning and documentation fees.*
Starting June 1, 2015, the India Service Tax will be paid on all shipments where the local charges are invoiced to
companies outside of India. The India Service Tax is already applied on shipments where the invoice is paid locally in
India.

*Please note that the adjustment % is based on service tax rate as of April 20, 2015, and is subject to change. Safmarine does not plan to make
market announcements with regards to the changes to the India Service Tax rate.
