Imagen y nanosondeo de capas de grafeno para interconexiones
mediante microscopía de fuerza atómica conductiva
Publicada en IOPscience - Publicaciones Científicas sobre Nanoherramientas, 16/04/2015
Graphene is a promising material to replace Cu-interconnect metallization under a
width of 10 nm. We report a method for evaluating the graphene interconnect wiring
structure by conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM), which enables the direct
measurement of the two-dimensional (2D) resistance distribution and the coverage
evaluation of multilayer graphene (MLG) grown on Ni interconnects using a 300 mm
damascene process. The resistivity of exfoliated two-layer graphene was measured
and a reasonable value of 30 ???cm was obtained. We also measured the
resistance of the MLG/Ni stack of 350 nm L/S patterns and confirmed the conduction
paths of the MLG/Ni stack. It is demonstrated that the coverage of MLG on Ni
interconnects can be estimated more precisely by C-AFM than by backscattered
electron scanning electron microscopy (BSE-SEM) observation. C-AFM is
demonstrated to be a potential technique for the local conductance evaluation of
next-generation interconnects.

Variación espacial de la función de trabajo en películas de TiN
nanocristalino medidas mediante microscopía de efecto túnel en
modo dual
Publicada en IOPscience - Publicaciones Científicas sobre Nanoherramientas, 16/02/2015
We explored novel approach to measure spatial variation of work function (WF) on
polycrystalline 20-nm-thick TiN films by using simultaneous measurements of
tunneling current and interaction force in scanning tunneling microscopy. Upon
processing at 860 °C in N 2 atmosphere, the mean grain size increased from 3–5 to
20–30 nm. For multi-facet grains, facet-dependent variation of the WF was observed
in the maps. Three WF values were ascribed to (001) and (111) crystal planes of
cubic TiN. The area fraction of high-WF facets increased from 55% for as-grown to
70% for processed films.

Nanopartículas metálico-sólidas lípidas como herramientas coloidales
para catalizadores de soporte meso-macroporosos
Publicada en ACS Nano - Publicaciones Científicas sobre Nanoherramientas, 28/01/2015
Meso–macroporous silica containing iron oxide nanoparticles (15–20 nm) was
synthesized by formulating solid lipid nanoparticles and metallosurfactant as both
template and metal source. Because of the high active surface area of the catalyst,
the material exhibits an excellent performance in a Fenton-like reaction for methylene
blue (MB) degradation, even at low amount of iron oxide (5% TOC after 14 h).

Author(s): Ran Li , Meng He , Tong Li , Lina Zhang. We prepared cellulose/silver
nanocomposite fibers by soaking the cellulose fibers in AgNO3 aqueous solution,
which was heated at 80°C for 24h to synthesize Ag nanoparticles in situ. The
structure and properties of the composite fibers were characterized by FT-IR, X-ray
diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmitting electron
microscopy (TEM), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and tensile testing. The
content and diameter of the Ag nanoparticles (NPs) increased from 0.15% to 2.40%
and from 7.2nm to 12.5nm, respectively. In our findings, the pores of the cellulose
fiber at wet state were used as a microreactor to synthesize Ag nanopariticles. The
cellulose/Ag nanocomposite fibers exhibited good mechanical properties and thermal
stability. Antibacterial experiment revealed excellent antibacterial activity of the
cellulose nanocomposite fibers against Staphylococcus aureus. The cellulose/silver
nanocomposite fibers would have great potential in antibacterial textile and wound
handling due to easy industrialization.

in biomedicine and the environment. The applications of the prepared nanoparticles
for early detection of breast cancer cells, basal cell carcinoma, antibacterial test,
arsenic removal from water, Herpes DNA separation, CD4 + cell separation and
isolation of DNA of Hepatitis virus type B (HBV) and Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) are
discussed. Finally, some promising perspectives will be pointed out.

Nanofabricación de biomateriales esféricos a base de virus del
mosaico de tabaco utilizando un método de flujo continuo
Publicada en ACS Nano - Publicaciones Científicas sobre Nanoherramientas, 17/12/2014
Nanomanufacturing of nanoparticles is critical for potential translation and
commercialization. Continuous flow devices can alleviate this need through
unceasing production of nanoparticles. Here we demonstrate the scaled-up
production of spherical nanoparticles functionalized with biomedical cargos from the
rod-shaped plant virus tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) using a mesofluidic, continued
flow method. Production yields were increased 30-fold comparing the mesofluidic
device versus batch methods. Finally, we produced MRI contrast agents of select
sizes, with per particle relaxivity reaching 979,218 mM–1 s–1 at 60 MHz. These
TMV-based spherical nanoparticle MRI contrast agents are in the top echelon of
relaxivity per nanoparticle.

Nanomaterials (also called nanoparticles or nanopowders) are increasingly becoming
part of our daily lives. Their novel properties, that are not apparent in larger forms of
the same material, has led to their desirability and exploitation in a wide range of
applications. Nanomaterials can be defined as substances that are intentionally
produced, manufactured or engineered to have specific properties and one or more
dimensions typically between 1 and 100 nanometres. Most nanomaterials are
produced in multi-ton volumes in varying sizes, shapes, and also in surface coatings.
Nanomaterials cover a range of materials inorganic metal and metal oxide
nanomaterials, carbon-based nanomaterials and polymeric particulate materials in a
variety of forms.

E2490 Guía de estándares para la medición de la distribución del
tamaño de partículas de nanomateriales en suspensión mediante
espectroscopía de correlación fotónica (PCS) ha sido reaprobada,
disponible como E2490-09(2015)
Publicada en ASTM International's Committee E56 on Nanotechnology New Standards,
13/04/2015
5.1 PCS is one of the very few techniques that are able to deal with the measurement of particle size distribution in the
nano-size region. This Guide highlights this light scattering technique, generally applicable in the particle size range from
the sub-nm region until the onset of sedimentation in the sample. The PCS technique is usually applied to slurries or
suspensions of solid material in a liquid carrier. It is a first principles method (that is, calibration in the standard
understanding of this word, is not involved).
