About your workplace:
National Respite Association is a small respite peak body which has members delivering services
across disability, aged care, mental health and carer support. National Respite exists to lead a
professional focus on the interconnected well-being of people with disability, mental illness and
frailty from age and their chosen carers, families and supports.

outcomes for Australians and be great innovators despite the challenges such organisations face in
consumer driven markets.
Our FY15 Strategic Priorities are:
1. Transition Readiness – for small and micro organisations moving into consumer directed
markets and federal reform
2.
Member Services – respite specific information, regular bulletin
3.
Research – rigorous research that answers the big questions about transition through SPRC
4. Service innovation and evaluation – promoting flexible respite in aged care and work on
activating choice for people with disabilities
5.
Strategic Advocacy – for non-respite carer support with CRCCs
About your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about working with small community
services to achieve great outcomes for people with mental illness, disability, frailty from age and
carers.
As Field Officer, you will work with National Respite members to strengthen the community care
sector as consumer driven reforms shape future practice. You will get the chance to use your
intelligence, drive and enterprise to be a part of an exciting new initiative and to drive change. You
will work with a dynamic team to achieve results for members and for the Australian community.
You will help deliver success for the Transition Readiness for Small and Micro Organisations in the
Bush Pilot, and also be responsible broadly for member service engagement at National Respite. The
Transition Readiness in the Bush is funded through the IDF with the support of ADHC and NDS. The
Pilot aims to increase the NDIS readiness of small and micro services.

All About You:
You will have a strong sense of social justice and a belief in the power of small and micro community
services, especially in the bush, to help build social capital.
You will care about NDIS disability reform and great outcomes for people with disability. You will
have excellent communication and relationship management skills. You will be self-driven and a
problem solver. You will have had some experience working for a small and/or micro disability
service.
What we can offer you:
This position is part time (0.7 FTE – 24.5 hours/week) and is remunerated at SCHADS Award Level 5.1
plus super.
Attractive salary packaging is available which yields an annual Full Time Equivalent salary of around
$68,000.
You will work with an organisation that passionately cares about better outcomes for Australians
and be vital in helping member services understand, adapt and change for consumer directed
markets.
This position involves a once in a lifetime chance to get involved with reform occurring across the
community sector, and in particular, the NDIS.
You will get to work with services, experienced consultants and other stakeholders on key NDIS
service provider challenges such as marketing, client management systems and unit costing. You will
build strong relationships across the NSW disability sector at the same time as closely participating
in an exciting and innovative new project. You will have direct impact on NDIS roll-out in NSW.
