Game Officials Newsletter - March 2015 Hi Umpires, Technical officials and all you other fantastic volunteers that help with the running of Nelson Netball games. I am the Convenor of the newly formed Games Officials committee and I thought it would be a great way to get information out to you all by way of a newsletter for us about us!! Games Officials Committee Deb Vincent (Convenor), Julie McGrath, Sally Paki Paki and Cilla Tanoa. Contact details are: [email protected] or 027 4442903. We meet monthly to work through the Annual Plan and all other topics that come up as the Netball season arrives and progresses. If you have anything you would like to know or have clarified please do not hesitate to contact us either via my contact details or through Nelson Netball on [email protected]. Umpire Information Sheets and Draw Steward Umpire Information sheets have been sent out and we ask that you get these completed ASAP please and get them to Marilyn Milne who is our wonderful Umpire Draw Steward. [email protected] or again to Chelsea at Nelson Netball. Umpire Panels As part of the NNZ Umpire Pathways we have Panels for the progression of umpires and thought it would be great if you were all aware of who is on these panels so that you can approach the right people for anything you may require for coaching, pathways, learning or understanding etc. Centre Panel – Marilyn Milne, Annie Ewers-Kennedy, Sarah Orr Zone Panel – Brenda Thomson, Michelle Stagg NZ Panel – Andy Vincent, Maree Smith, Kate Smith, Deb Vincent, Val Fitzsimons, Jan Gallop. They have already had one training session so please do contact me, Val or Chelsea if you want to join these. Urgently as they have started. Geraldine Hodgson Tournament – ANZAC weekend. This is our normal pre-season tournament and as it is ANZAC weekend – no netball will be played until 1pm. Anne Blomfield will be visiting us again to help Coach the Umpire Coaches and to coach all of you umpires as well. It is a great opportunity to have her in Nelson for the weekend and I am sure you will all learn heaps. Please let Marilyn know of your availability for the Tournament and of course teams will be asking for umpires also. Umpire Liaison to Clubs Each year we have a nominated umpire who is the contact, liaison for each Club/School. This is so that they have someone to come to if they require help or some guidance, instruction etc. If you have an enquiry that you feel you need help with or are not so confident with please do come to the Committee and we will help or arrange for someone else to help you and the club/schools. The allocations are as follows: Prices Stoke Jacks Richmond Suburban Rival Wanderers Motueka Tapawera Murchison NCG Waimea Garin Nayland Debbie Vincent Julie McGrath Vicki Reid Annie Ewers-Kennedy Alan Henderson Debbie Vincent/Mel Heine Sarah Orr Brenda Thomson Emma Bannister Marilyn Milne Cilla Tanoa/Laura Lowe Maree Smith Kate Smith Sally Paki Paki/Caitlin Reid/Julie McGrath Umpire Fitness Opportunities ASB Aquatic Centre are offering $40 for a month membership or $40 or 10 concessions. Nelson Umpire Shirts For those who did not get these last year – we are working on getting some more and will let you know when we have these. If you do require one perhaps you can let me know and approx size also. Umpiring for Dummies Friday 1st May 2015 at the Netball Pavilion. Please encourage anyone and everyone you know that plays or umpires to come along for this session – it is just for an hour hopefully. The more people we have the have an idea of the rules and requirements of arriving at the courts and getting the card and getting the game underway the better for everyone concerned. Technical Officials Welcome! Sally Paki Paki is obviously the person looking after you all and what awesome people you are!!! Please be sure that we do have you all in mind as part of our Committee and we do encourage you to come to us or Sally if you have anything you wish to raise etc.
