Neptune News rd February 23 , 2015 Dear Parents, Reading Star Neptune We will do Reading Street Unit 4 Week 1. The Unit 4 focus The Star Neptune this week is Tyler. The next Star question is what do we treasure. The question of the week Neptune will be Eoin. He will present this Friday. is how can a surprise be a treasure. Our story this week is a play “Mama’s Birthday Present”. We will learn to read, ARC Class Schedule segment and blend words with vowel digraphs ai and ay, and singular and plural possessives. (sail, say, boy's, boys', Monday Disc. FFL (gym shoes) hen's, hens', etc). We will continue working on drawing conclusions. We will work on reading sentences with correct Tuesday Music expression and tone. We will learn to name adjectives in Wednesday Spanish sentences. Thursday Expl. FFL (gym shoes) Math We will continue Topic 10: Adding with Tens and Ones. We will use basic facts to add tens. We will use a hundred chart to add tens to a number. We will add tens to a number by skip counting. We will use mental math to add two-digit numbers. We will add one-digit numbers to two-digit numbers. We will solve problems by drawing pictures and writing number sentences. The test will be on Friday, February 27th. Conferences Spring conferences are coming up Thursday, March 19th. I'm sending home a preliminary conference schedule. It is nearly the same as the fall schedule. If you want or need a different time mark and return the schedule or contact me via dojo, email, or phone. I'll send out official conference time confirmation letters in a couple weeks. Then have your child read the words and spell them aloud. This week your child is learning to draw conclusions using text and what he or she already knows. As you read, stop and discuss how the author leads you to conclusions.
