The Thirty Third NJASA/NJAPSA Annual
Spring Conference will address school leadership, the
latest educational developments and best practices to help
you maintain a professional and personal balance in your life.
You will be choosing from an impressive selection of sessions
designed to help you acquire the tools you need in your role
as education leader in your community. For many New
Jersey school leaders, this conference is THE professional
development and networking event of the year.
The NJASA Allied Member Display Areas are an integral
part of the conference offering both new and time-tested
products and services to help you and your district work
more effectively. This is the perfect opportunity to acquaint
you with the latest tools and best resources available in
education.
*SPECIAL NOTE: The waiver request for overnight lodging
(2 nights) was APPROVED by the Commissioner of
Education. As a result of this waiver, School Districts
will be able to reimburse attendees for overnight lodging
on Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14, 2015.
Reimbursement for registration fees, mileage and meals, are
subject to the limitations and conditions set forth by your
board and the travel regulations set forth by the NJDOE.
HOTEL INFORMATION:
Caesars Atlantic City is the official host hotel for the
2015 NJASA/NJAPSA Annual Spring Conference. It is the
responsibility of all attendees and exhibitors going to the
conference to make their own hotel arrangements directly with
Caesars. NJASA has negotiated a special rate for Conference
attendees. To take advantage of these special rates, simply call:
CAESARS RESERVATIONS 1 (888) 516-2215 before
Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Each individual must identify
themselves with NJ Association of School Administrators and
provide Code SC05SA5 in order to receive the discounted
rate. Attendees can also make hotel reservations online at

CAC&groupCode=SC05SA5.
Reservations made after the cut-off date or once the room block
is full will not be eligible for the special rates. 2015 NJASA/
NJAPSA Spring Conference attendees will receive the special
rate of $119 per room, per night in the Centurion Tower
(single or double occupancy). Each additional person is
$20.00. Rooms are first come-first serve. All applicable taxes
and fees are in addition to the quoted rates. Parking is also
additional.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. VA Shiva Ayyadurai
VA Shiva Ayyadurai is a scientist-technologist, entrepreneur and educator. In 1978,
while a 14-year-old high school student in
Newark, New Jersey, he invented EMAIL,
the world’s first email system, which was the
full-scale emulation of the interoffice paperbased mail system, for which he was awarded
the first US Copyright. He holds four degrees
Dr. VA Shiva Ayyadurai
from MIT, is a Fulbright Scholar, LemelsonMIT Awards Finalist and Westinghouse
Science Talent Honors Award recipient. Born in Bombay, India,
VA Shiva moved to America at the age of 7 in 1970. He completed his secondary school education at Livingston High
School. He pursued his bachelors, dual master’s and doctoral
degrees at MIT, spanning the fields of electrical engineering and
computer science, media arts and sciences, and applied mechanics
and systems biology. VA Shiva’s research on pattern recognition and
large-scale systems development has resulted in multiple patents,
numerous industry awards, new computational platforms such as
CytoSolve, commercial products such as EchoMail and scientific
and industry publications.

Keynote Speaker: Tony Wagner
Tony Wagner currently serves as an Expert
in Residence at Harvard University’s new
Innovation Lab. Prior to this appointment;
Tony was the first Innovation Education
Fellow at the Technology & Entrepreneurship
Center at Harvard, and the founder and codirector of the Change Leadership Group at
the Harvard Graduate School of Education
Tony Wagner
for more than a decade. His previous work
experience includes twelve years as a high
school teacher, K-8 principal, university professor in teacher
education, and founding executive director of Educators for
Social Responsibility. Tony is a frequent speaker at national and
international conferences and a widely published author. His work
includes numerous articles and five books. Tony’s latest, Creating
Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the
World, was published by Simon & Schuster in 2012 to rave reviews
and has been translated into ten languages. His 2008 book, The
Global Achievement Gap continues to be an international best
seller with a Second Edition recently released. Tony also recently
collaborated with noted filmmaker Robert Compton to create a
60 minute documentary, “The Finland Phenomenon: Inside the
World’s Most Surprising School System.” Tony earned an M.A.T.
and an Ed.D. at the Harvard University Graduate School of
Education.

Willard R. Daggett, Ed.D. is recognized
world-wide for his proven ability to move
education systems toward more rigorous and
relevant skills and knowledge for all students.
He has assisted a number of states and hundreds of school districts with their school
improvement initiatives, many in response to
No Child Left Behind and its demanding
Willard R. Daggett, adequate yearly progress (AYP) provisions.
Ed.D.
Before founding the International Center for
Leadership in Education in 1991, Dr. Daggett was a teacher and
administrator at the secondary and postsecondary levels, and a director
with the New York State Education Department, where he spearheaded
restructuring initiatives to focus the state’s education system on the
skills and knowledge students need in a technological, informationbased society. Dr. Daggett has collaborated with education ministries
in several countries, the Council of Chief State School Officers, the Bill
& Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Governors Association,
and many other national and global organizations.
Dr. Daggett currently serves on the education advisory boards
for NASA, USA Today, and Scholastic Achievement Partners. He
is also the Founder and Chairman of the Successful Practices
Network.
Daggett’s powerful keynote messages help his audience challenge
assumptions about the purposes, benefits, and effectiveness of current practices. Daggett inspires his listeners to embrace the greatest
aspects of our education system and to make the necessary modifications required to meet the needs of all 21st century learners.
Temple University and the State University of New York at Albany
have recognized Daggett as a distinguished alumnus. He has
authored numerous books about learning and education, textbooks, research studies, reports, and journal articles.
