2015 ACHIEVEMENT IN PLANNING AWARD CATEGORIES
1. An INDIVIDUAL of New Jersey who has demonstrated an unusual or significant contribution to planning.
(e.g. Planner, Mayor or Board Member)
2. A MUNICIPALITY OR MUNICIPAL AGENCY achieving a special project which makes a significant contribution to
planning. (e.g. Planning Bd, ZBA, Governing Body, Historic Preservation Comm., Environmental Comm., etc.)
3. A COUNTY, REGIONAL OR OTHER GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY making a significant contribution to the planning
process. (e.g. County Planning Board)
4. A CIVIC OR CITIZENS’ ORGANIZATION that has through its efforts made significant contribution or furthered
public understanding of planning.
5. A RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT deserving of recognition in achieving a high standard of good physical design and
enhancing quality of life.
6. A COMMERCIAL OR INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT which through imagination and creativity enhances economic and
social quality.
7. A REHABILITATION PROJECT that impacts and improves the standards of a neighborhood.
8. An ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT resulting in an appreciable improvement or preservation of land use, clean air,
savings in energy, water, etc.
9. A SIGNIFICANT BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT completed through the standard planning process.
10. A PUBLICATION that has through its journalistic efforts made an important contribution to Planning or the
understanding of the planning process.
RULES
All applicants must be persons, firms or governmental units within the State of New Jersey.
All applications must be accompanied by thorough documentation and related materials. A brief summary with
ample description must accompany the nomination. The committee may request further information. Please add
digital photos and materials with hard copy submissions whenever possible.
Construction projects must be completed on or before January 2014. Submissions must include a copy of the
approved plat plan, topography and physical features existing before construction and a site plan including
buildings.
All submitted material remains with NJPO. Project Summary should be sent in Word format (.doc) as well as PDF
to [email protected].
Submissions must be postmarked by May
15, 2015.

Judging by the Committee will be completed by the NJPO awards committee and will be presented at the New Jersey Planning
Officials Achievement in Planning Awards. If no candidate is deemed appropriate for an award in a given category, the
Committee reserves the right to make no award in that category. NJPO also reserves the right to reclassify any project deemed
necessary or appropriate.
