Scalloped Tomatoes
Recipe bypChef Jeff Zak
Good olive oil
2 cups (1/2-inch diced) ciabatta bread cubes – slightly dried out
16 plum tomatoes, cut 1/2-inch dice (about 2 1/2 pounds)
1 tablespoon minced garlic (3 cloves) Sprinkle of sugar sugar
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup chipped fresh basil leaves
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a large (12 inch) saute pan over
medium heat. Add the bread cubes and stir to coat with the oil. Cook
over medium to medium-high heat for 5 minutes, stirring often, until
the cubes are evenly browned.
Meanwhile, combine the tomatoes, garlic, sugar, salt, and pepper in
a large bowl. When the bread cubes are done, add the tomato mixture
and continue to cook, stirring often, for 5 minutes. Off the heat,
stir in the basil.
Pour the tomato mixture into a shallow (6 to 8 cup) baking dish.
Sprinkle evenly with the Parmesan cheese and drizzle with 2
tablespoons of olive oil. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the top is
browned and the tomatoes are bubbly. Serve hot or warm.

meeting, conditional approval was granted for a 12 unit
condominium project located on 8 Mile Road, between Meijer’s
and Meadowbrook Country Club. The project is part of the Beacon
Square PUD. In addition to the two freestanding office buildings
and a memory care facility, the project includes six attached and six
detached villa units.

• Former Scott Prison site - The Township has selected a
joint venture between REDICO and Pinnacle Homes for the
redevelopment of the former Scott Correctional facility on the
northwest corner of 5 Mile & Beck Roads. The approximately
53 acre site will be transformed into an exciting new mixed use
project that will include retail, a hotel, loft residential, townhomes
and detached condominiums. The retail component is described as
an “open-aired market district” that offers lifestyle experiences in
fashion, dining, boutique goods and entertainment. Various types
of residential units will appeal to mixed audiences. From a design
perspective, the project will serve as a gateway to the township,
an anchor to the Michigan Industrial Technology Corridor and
will be integrated with the adjacent park to create synergy with the
surrounding community.

Wayne County Department of Environment will host a Household
Hazardous Waste Collection event on June 20th from 8:00 a.m. until

In the past three years, the Northville Preview Event, which is
an exhibit of 30 pre-war rare and vintage cars, brought close to
3,000 people into the Downtown, just for our event. This year, the
DDA will be hosting the Preview Event on Saturday, July 25th
from noon-4:00pm. We are expecting an even larger crowd this
year, based on the events the Concours d’Elegance of America has
scheduled.
The Preview Event features:
• Concours d’Elegance of America caliber car exhibit
• Live music in Town Square from noon-4pm
• A Special Exhibition celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the
Ford Thunderbird
We are seeking exhibitor sponsors for 60 beautiful cars which will
be on display (click here for a form). The cost to be an exhibitor
sponsor is $50. In exchange, your business logo will be included
on the individual automobile bio board as the exclusive sponsor for
that automobile. The car owners take the bio boards to every event
where they exhibit their cars. Not only would your sponsorship
receive exposure at the Northville event, but at all of the exhibits
which the car owner attends! Examples of the cars which will be
exhibiting include: a 1926 Willys-Knight, a 1941 Cadillac,
a 1932 Ford V-8 Roadster, a 1937 Cord and a 1931 Pierce-Arrow.
Thank you for taking the time to consider participation as a sponsor
for the Northville Concours d’Elegance Preview Event. We hope
that you will accept the invitation and be a part of this wonderful
event!
Northville community events can now be accessed at any time through an electronic calendar.
