Michael De Sousa graced Poland class with his
presence and charmed the children with his funny
one-liners and accents. The children loved being
read to by our guest and he invited the children to
partake in acting out stories with him. Mr De Sousa
also gave the opportunity to come up with new
ideas for future stories which allowed the children
of Poland class to get their creative juices flowing.
Finally a Q&A session ended this amazing
workshop and the children asked some really
thought provoking questions which gave Mr De
Sousa the opportunity to talk about forthcoming
books! All we can say is we are eagerly waiting
for the release of new books from Michael De
Sousa.
Pop Up – Author Visits
All classes had special visitors this week – real-life
authors and illustrators, who came to visit
Northwold and tell the children how they write the
amazing books that our children love to read.
Kerin David, Author of 'When I was Joe', visited
Turkey class, Year 5. She talked to Turkey class
about how to be creative and invent stories.
Here’s Chloe Inkpen in Pakistan talking to the class
about her book Pirate’s Treasure.

Northwold Primary School – No sky too high
We had a great time last week celebrating books
and reading. Here’s a few more pictures from
World Book Day.
World Book Day
As part of the World Book Day celebrations last
week all classes in Northwold wrote and illustrated
sequels to popular children's picture books. Here
are some pictures of our bookstore. All classes paid
a visit to read one another’s work.

Year 5 – Kench Hill Meeting
All year 5 parents are invited to a meeting about
the Kench Hill residential on Tuesday 14th April
2015 at 9.00am. Even if you have not booked your
child to go, please do come and you may change
your mind. This is a great residential and a good
team building experience that your child will take
with them once they leave for secondary school.
At the meeting we plan to:
· Share details about the centre
· Give you a chance to see which members of
staff are going on the trip
· You’ll be given a copy of the programme for
the week
· Details of the what the children will need to
bring (you don’t need to buy anything)
 Details on health and safety
· Answer any questions you may have
Parents and carers – let us know what your
favourite children’s books are. The ones you read
to your children now and the ones you read or
listened to as a child.
Your child needs to come to the meeting too. It’s
an important meeting so we do hope you can make
it.
Lost Property Bin
WE Day – Wembley
The Lost Property Bin has returned to the Infant
Playground, under the shed. Any items of lost
property will be placed in there. PLEASE NOTE:
Every two weeks the bin will be emptied and the
contents will be taken to a local charity shop.
Cycle Superhighway 1 - Have your say!
13 year 5 children went to Wembley Arena last
week to enjoy We Day. It was a show to thank all
the schools who have been involved with the Free
the Children charity.
Year 6 – Easter School
Easter school will run from 30th March - 2nd April.
Children are expected to arrive at 9:25 and leave at
12:50 each day. An invitation letter will be sent out
shortly with additional details.
TfL has been working with the London boroughs of
Hackney, Haringey and Islington, and is proposing a
major new cycle route between Tottenham and the
City of London. Cycle Superhighway Route 1 (CS1)
would run from White Hart Lane to Liverpool
Street station, forming part of the London-wide
network of Cycle Superhighways. Subject to the
outcome of the consultation, construction is due to
begin later this year and finish in 2016.
Please open the link below for information and a
brief survey to share your thoughts on the
proposal.
