Visit the website to book online http://www.westofenglandictconference.org.uk/ The 17th West of England ICT Conference will take place on 2nd July 2015 at the UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre in Bristol. I have attached a flyer about the conference. This year’s theme ‘Inspiring Minds’ reflects the evolving picture of education and the continuing shift from ‘teaching’ to ‘learning’. Our classrooms are increasingly being led by empowered learners and with the new National Curriculum now in place, schools are looking at how to maximise learning for their students and help to give them the tools to enable them to learn in a creative and unrestrictive way. Once again, we have some amazing keynote speakers with the two below already confirmed: Hall Davidson – educational innovator in education Professor Alan Winfield - Professor of Electronic Engineering at Bristol Robotics Laboratory and Director of the Science Communication Unit at the University of the West of England Continued… -2Continued… At the heart of the conference are our inspiring seminars which focus on supporting all practitioners to use a wide range of ICT to support and further learning in the classroom. This year’s selection of seminars reflects the increased focus on programming while retaining sessions on key areas such as safety, curriculum and mobile devices. Alongside the seminars the School Showcase will give delegates an opportunity to look at real practice from other schools. The conference will also host a large exhibition of technology suppliers and the opportunity to engage with representatives to explore how their products can benefit learning in your school. It is also an opportunity to engage with those suppliers you have already purchased from to ensure that you are making the best use of their resources to enhance learning. Information about all aspects of the conference, including the seminars and keynote speakers, is available through the West of England ICT Conference web site which can be accessed at www.westofenglandictconference.org.uk. There is also a promotional video which provides further information about the conference and you can join the conversation on Twitter with #WEICT15 or follow @WEICTCONF. Booking has now opened. Delegate booking is being managed by South Gloucestershire as one of the organising local authorities through their online booking system. The website address for the system is www.sgsts.org.uk/training. If you already have an account then log in to your CPD Online account on the site to make your booking. If you do not have an account but your school already does then you will need to click on new user on the left and enter your details. If your school is not in the list of establishments please email [email protected] with your name, school, local authority, school email address and telephone number. The team will contact you to confirm it has been added to the system. If you have any questions then please ring 01454 868165. The conference booking information can be found by clicking on the link in the news item on the home page, searching events using the event code WEICT or date of 2 July and clicking on request a place. When you book your place through the online booking system you will have the opportunity to choose your seminar sessions. There are four seminar time slots available and you will need to select one session in each time slot. You must choose the exhibition for one of your sessions by selecting a time slot for when you would like to visit the exhibition at the bottom of the session page. Continued… -3Continued… The full cost for the conference is £135, however there is a 15% discount for affiliated delegates which will be applied on payment. These are delegates from any of the local authorities who contribute resources to planning the conference (Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire). Schools who are non-affiliated who send more than two people will receive a 10% discount for their delegates on invoicing. This conference is a crucial event for all those school leaders interested in ICT and education. It provides an opportunity to learn from practitioners in other schools, have your thinking challenged and to network with others who are enthusiastic in engaging learners through technology. The West of England ICT conference aims to support schools in the south west with planning and evolving their curriculum as well as providing professional development and support with leading ICT in this period of change. We look forward to seeing you on 2 July. Yours sincerely Angie Mason Angie Mason On Behalf of the Regional West of England ICT Conference Planning Group
