LET US JOURNEY TOGETHER Almsgiving is an often overlooked part of the Lenten experience. Many associate almsgiving solely from a financial perspective. But almsgiving is the opening of one’s self to others. Reach out to someone this week in a comforting, welcoming or forgiving fashion. Your action will make someone else’s journey this year a bit brighter. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION PENANCE SERVICE ~ Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 P.M. PAGE 2 MARCH 22, 2015 ~ FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT A NOTE FROM FATHER LEN Hopefully your time with Fr. Collins, and mine on retreat, have given us a second wind as we prepare to enter the last days of Lent. This week offers us three opportunities for the Sacrament of Penance (Confession) – Tuesday’s Penance Service at 7 pm (four priests will be hearing confessions), Saturday from 11 am to noon and then again from 4 to 5 pm. Traditional Stations will be prayed on Friday at 7:30 pm and the Starfish Easter food collection will be conducted next weekend. While on retreat I had some time to catch up on reading. I came across an article on the actress Elaine Stritch, who passed away last year. She was a funny, opinionated “dame” who had a deep faith. The following quote of hers gave me something to think about which I would like to share with you. “I pray that I live expectantly. To live expectantly one asks ‘what’s going to happen tomorrow!’ In the meantime, I stay where I am enjoying what God has given me, the best way that I know how.” This is a great way to envision the last days of Lent as we anticipate the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord. SACRED HEART LAMP BURNS IN HONOR OF: JACKIE LAREM WEEKLY TITHE 5% of next week’s collection will be sent to PRIEST RETIREMENT FUND. LET’S NOT FORGET COLLECTION FOR RETIRED PRIESTS The second collection next weekend is for the Fund for our Retired Diocesan Priests. This collection is exclusively for the benefit of our 29 retired priests, as well as, our active priests upon their retirement. May your generosity to this collection reflect your gratitude and love for our retired priests who have been dedicated and faithful to their priesthood over the years. Let’s not forget.
