Getting started: It`s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
Kentucky Thorough-Breasts Dragon Boat Festival P.O. Box 76213, Highland Heights, KY 41076 email: [email protected] (859) 391-7020 | www.p4ca.org Getting started: It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3! Team Sponsors/Team Captain; Thank you for your interest in supporting our Dragon Boat Race this year. We hope you will find the experience fun and fulfilling as you support breast cancer awareness and treatment. Breast cancer touches so many lives every day and your support is important as we continue to search for a cure. Building your Dragon Boat Racing Team only requires your enthusiasm for the cause. No paddling experience is necessary. You don’t even have to like to row or swim. Just come out and make waves Paddling for the Pink! Here’s how: 1. Register your Team at www.p4ca.org or by calling (859) 391‐7020. Please pay your $650 team fee when you register. See below for information about individual fundraising goals. 2. Choose a team name, identify your team captain and choose your participation division. Here are some examples: • BSC (Breast Cancer Survivors) Teams: • Police, Fire, Rescue: (Arresting Cancer, Extinguishing Cancer, Reviving Hope) • Health Care: (Heroes and Hope) • Financial District: (Dream Big) • Collegiate: (Champions for the Cause) • Family, Friends & Supporters: (Save the Ta Ta’s) • Attorneys, Law & Justice: (Courting the Cause) • Sports Teams: (Saving Second Base) • Construction Trades: (Building Better Bodies) 3. Recruit and Review • Recruit your Team: Look to co‐workers, friends, spouses, church members, civic leaders, customers, neighbors and others to fill your winning team. Your team should consist of 18 ‐ 20 paddlers and five alternates. We will provide a steersperson, drummer (coxswain), paddles, life jackets and the opportunity to race a 14‐meter‐long Hong Kong‐style canoe. • Review your team and individual fundraising goals with members. The suggested fundraising goal is $200 per team member. But, we welcome and encourage higher goals and have some great prizes for top fundraisers. Fundraising is made easy when each team member sets a goal to recruit 10 ‐ 20 personal sponsors at $20 each. Collect the donations when you ask for them, then invite the sponsor to come out and support you on Saturday at A. J. Jolly Park (Operated by Campbell County Fiscal Court). Donation packets should be turned in no later than September 11 to secure your team’s spot for the fundraising goal prizes and to avoid confusion on race day. Call us at (859) 391‐7020 if you have any questions. Thanks for participating. We look forward to seeing you on the water at A. J. Jolly Park on September 12, 2015.
