FUNDING: $5m (Round One committed $1.8m) OPERATION: Until 2016-17 ROUND TWO: Close 29 May 2015 at 5pm (ACST) SA River Murray Sustainability – IRSP OUTCOMES: The IRSP investment will: • Improve productivity and water use efficiency through new technologies • Improve on-farm risk management skills and technologies to manage projected climatic changes and adapt to the Basin Plan • Improve the market position of South Australian crops by meeting market access requirements SA River Murray Sustainability – IRSP Round One Funded Projects (~$1.8m) • $0.198m (SARDI) - Almond salt sensitivity • $0.313m (SARDI) - Regional assessment of climate and water risks and opportunities for SA irrigated industries • $0.369m (Adelaide University) – Sustaining irrigation and soil condition • $0.430m (SARDI) - Managing almond production in a variable and changing climate • $0.453m (SARDI) - Longevity and sustained performance of rootstock in Lower Murray horticulture, viticulture and citrus SA River Murray Sustainability – IRSP Changes from Round One 1. Introduction / refinement of project focus areas • Industries allied to primary industries • Economic development opportunities and innovation • Supply chains and waste management 2. Two funding streams: • Stream One = Up to $100,000 in funding • Stream Two = Above $100,000 up to $500,000 in funding 3. Co-contribution evidence is now required at the time of signing the funding agreement (previously required at time of application) 4. Co-contributions can include Australian Government funding SA River Murray Sustainability – IRSP Round Two is looking for projects that align with at least one of the following focus areas: Market research for new opportunities for primary production in the Region; New food opportunities for the Region; Mechanisms to utilise waste products to create new food or products or other production enhancements that could be implemented in the Region; Improved processing systems to those currently located in the Region; Adaptation of established businesses within the Region to better manage regional risk factors; Optimisation of regional business systems to reduce input costs and increase production output; Diversification into new industries, markets, products and/or business models that could be adopted in the region; and Innovation of new technology to benefit regional agricultural production, water management and/or business management. SA River Murray Sustainability – IRSP Round Two projects must also be associated with at least one of the objectives of the redeveloped Loxton Research Centre (LRC): bringing together industry knowledge, ideas, science and technology to revitalise and grow the regional economy through new technology and enhanced local analytical capability; facilitate training courses in business skills, environmental management and analytical services; encourage new industry sectors; and facilitate and enable growth in exports. This stream will fund innovative and novel research, which will become the catalyst for future economic development and creation of new jobs in the Region. Up to $100,000 Above $100,000 and up to $500,000 Applicant must be a Registered Research Service Provider (www.ausindustry.gov.au; 13 28 46; [email protected]) Agreement must be executed within two months of the date of the letter of offer.
