Be Kind to Animals Poster & Writing Contest Submission deadline: March 19, 2015 Poster Themes 1st & 2nd Grade Be Kind and Always Love Your Pet: Be gentle, kind, and calm with your pet. Never hit, tease, or make your pet feel bad by chasing, riding, squeezing, or pulling its ears or tail. Each type of pet is different, so make sure you know what they need to be happy and healthy! 3rd and 4th Grade All Dogs and Cats Need an Identification Tag on Their Collar! Identification tags are the best way to help get your pet back to you if it escapes or gets lost. 5th and 6th Grade Health and Wellness are Important for Your Pet: Annual visits to the veterinarian, high quality food, and regular play and exercise will help your pet stay healthy and live longer. 7th & 8th Grade Choose the Right Pet for You: All pets require different levels of commitment and care. Make sure you research a pet before you adopt. Entry Rules: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Poster size is 11” by 17” horizontal or vertical. Follow the specific theme for your grade. Use any medium such as markers, paint, colored pencil, or crayon. Please no pastels. Do original work; no tracing or computer generated art. You may submit multiple entries. You will be judged on how your art relates to the theme, creativity, and neatness. Use your own words! All entries must be written by the student only, with no help from others, except for spelling or punctuation. Follow the specific theme for your grade and word allowances. A 4” by 6” photo or artwork that ties into the theme is preferred, but not necessary. Entries are preferred typed, but may be handwritten. It is up to the discretion of the Humane Educator which winning entries will be made into notecards or bookmarks.
