Special Interest Camps The Core Matters Project - NEW This evidence-based program empowers kids to handle life’s challenges. The COREMatters Project builds empathy and respect in kids by teaching them how to handle adversity in respectful, constructive and non-violent ways. Through fun physical activities, exciting role-playing games, and reflective discussion, this 10-session program prepares kids to effectively deal with issues such as bullying and peer pressure. Research done in partnership with Governors State University proves that The COREMatters Project works! Class will be held on Wednesdays and is open to children entering 4th-6th grade. A musical throwback to the hits from the 50’s to the 90’s, “Rock & Roll Game Show-The Musical!” will have the audience guessing and singing along! Participants will learn songs, simple movement, make props, play theater games and more. A short performance on the last day of camp will give these future stars a chance to show off all that they have learned in only one week. Please bring a water bottle each day. We will explore, examine and observe nature from the ground to the trees, all while hiking and climbing through the woods. A craft will be created out of the nature items we collect along the way. Campers should dress to get dirty. Sunblock and bug spray should be applied prior to arriving at camp. You should also bring water and a small snack. Instructor: Kristi Kisich.
