Tickets are 10.00 at the door. Notes from the Music Department: All Hersheypark chaperones are required to attend one of our chaperone meetings. Meetings will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 6:30pm in the Media Center (followed by Patapsco Music Boosters' meeting at 7pm­­ we would love to have you there!) or Monday, April 20th at 7:00 PM in the Music Room. Please mark your calendars. Ultimate Frisbee Intramural The ultimate frisbee intramural has a few date changes! We will be starting right after spring break on Tuesday, April 7th. The following dates are when we will be meeting: April 7, April 21, April 28, May 12, May 19, May 26, June 2, June 9. There are still a few spots ­ so get your permission slip in today! From PE Department Weather is finally changing!!! Please remind students to start bringing in sweatshirts/sweatpants. We will be going outside on warmer days but definitely after spring break!!! Maryland Mathematics Engineering and Science Achievement Program (MESA) Students enrolled in the Maryland Mathematics Engineering and Science Achievement Program (MESA) from the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) are ready to compete in the Howard County Regional MESA Day competitions. The competitions will be held April 10, 2015, 9:00 am ­ 1:00 pm at the Kossiakoff Conference and Education Center at the Johns Hopkins University­ Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL), Laurel, MD. These science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competitions involve a variety of events that include students at the elementary, middle, and high school grade levels. Students will compete in cyber security and computer programming events in which engineers and scientists will evaluate their programming skills. Bridges designed and built out of balsa wood under strict guidelines will be assessed for efficiency and structural integrity. Creative and innovative abilities of students will be evaluated in events such as effective communications and the storybook theme park ride. Construction and racing of a Hovercraft will also be a part of this year's event. Middle and high schools will compete in the Prosthetic Arm Challenge, which is the MESA USA National competition, with the winner being eligible to compete for a chance to represent Maryland in the national event in Ogden, Utah in June. HCPSS schools that will compete include: Bryant Woods ES, Guilford ES (Monarch Mills after school program), St. John's Lane ES, Lake Elkhorn MS, Murray Hill MS, Oakland Mills MS, Patapsco MS, Atholton HS, Howard HS, Long Reach HS, Oakland Mills HS, Reservoir HS, and Wilde Lake HS. HCPSS MESA students that win at this local competition will compete against students from other Maryland school districts in the State Finals. Newseum Field Trip­6th grade ​
Rescheduled​
to May 12, 2015 The 6th grade team is pleased to announce we have been successful in rescheduling the date of our field trip to the Newseum! We will be heading downtown on May 12, 2015. The departure and arrival time remain the same at 6:30am arrival to school and we will be back for the afternoon buses. The payment that has already been collected will be applied for the May trip to the Newseum. We will send out a new permission slip closer to the date to confirm that your children will be joining us. We look forward to this wonderful academic opportunity for our 6th grade students. We’re celebrating the end of the snow and the start of the warm season with the Spring Fling at school on Friday, April 24 from 7­10pm. There will be a DJ and dancing in the cafeteria, concessions for sale, basketball in the gym with contests and prizes on the hour, and BINGO in the media center. Will we have more of those cool Under Armour prizes to give away? You’ll have to show up to find out! As always, we can’t do it without your help. PTACHC reps attend monthly PTACHC meetings at the Board of Education. PTACHC reps report to PTACHC the decision of the Patapsco PTA on matters referred to it for approval or information. PTACHC reps serve as delegates from Patapsco Middle School and represent our positions and concerns to the greater PTA community. PTACHC reps also keep the Patapsco PTA abreast of countywide PTA issues. Open Committee Positions Membership: ​
Assist membership chairperson Christa Kampert with fall PTA membership drive; requires an organized person to keep track of number of memberships sold, and distribute membership cards. Most of this work occurs August through October. Hospitality: ​
Assist chairperson Jennifer Meckes by helping to plan breakfasts and lunches throughout the year for our staff and guests. Hospitality Committee also plans Staff Appreciation events and recognizes staff achievements. Music Boosters Liaison: ​
The Music Boosters Liaison attends both Music Boosters and PTA meetings, and keeps each group informed about what the other is doing! Great for a parent with a child in chorus, orchestra, or band. School Store: ​
Do you love to shop? If so, this opportunity is for you! Keep the school store stocked throughout the year with fun items and prizes. No need to be available during the day­ the PTA will provide you with plenty of volunteers to work the store, we just need someone willing to shop and keep the store stocked with goodies! 8th Grade Committee: ​
We are looking for a few 8th grade parents to oversee the 8th grade committee. This means you're planning the 8th grade t­shirts, 8th grade promotion ceremony, 8th grade dance, and any other fun things you might want to come up with!
