Abstract
The objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of family education classes offered
to parents of male high school students who attended schools in Rey 2 during 2009-2010
academic years. This study was conducted on a population of 2400 subjects with a sample of 333
selected by stratified random sampling. Research methodology was ex-post descriptive. Research
tool was a researcher-made questionnaire consisting of 30 questions.
The study findings indicated that the family education classes provided additional awareness and
knowledge to the participating parents. Therefore, family education classes had the required
effectiveness. These classes provided awareness and knowledge to parents in various subjects
including religious education, physical needs of adolescences, emotional -psychological needs of
adolescence, coordination of educational methods used at home and school, and parent-teacher
relation.
This study showed that there was no significant difference between views of the participating
male and female parents on the effectiveness of the family education classes on their increased
awareness about physical needs of adolescences. There was no significant difference between
coordination of home and school educational methods and parents' educational level. The two
variables had a negative inverse relation. There was no significant relation between emotionalpsychological needs of students and their school level.
