PROJECT OVERVIEW
PTV is asking for
feedback on the
proposed design of the
new station at Southland.
The new station at Southland
project involves constructing a
new train station between Highett
and Cheltenham stations on the
Frankston line.
Feedback is being sought from a number of
stakeholders, including local residents and
community members, to capture a wide range views
and comments about the design of the new station.
Please provide any feedback
or comments on the design
of the new station to PTV
via phone on 1800 800 007
(6am – midnight), email on
[email protected]
or the online feedback form
at ptv.vic.gov.au/southland
by 1 May 2015.
All responses received will be considered
as PTV finalises the station’s design.
The local community will be kept informed
about the project’s milestones and time
frames as the project progresses.
For further information about the project,
please visit ptv.vic.gov.au/southland
The new station will be located next to Southland
shopping centre to provide direct and safe access
for shoppers and staff. The station will also improve
public transport access for the local community
and provide a local alternative to Highett and
Cheltenham stations.

PROJECT DESIGN AND FEATURES
Proposed station design
The new station will be modern, safe and accessible
for all members of the community.
It has been designed as an unstaffed station and will include a freestanding automated toilet on
platform two. With train services running on the Frankston line every ten minutes during the
day, seven days a week, customers won’t have to wait long to travel to and from Southland.
Station car parking will not be provided as part of the project.
Platform 1
Platform 2
Opaque fencing will be installed along platform 1 to
provide privacy screening for nearby residents.
Station lighting will be pointed away from residential
areas and directed towards the platform, ramps and
rail line for the safety of customers and train drivers.
The station entrance will be located on platform 2,
providing direct access to Southland shopping centre.
Access to platform 1 will be provided via an underpass,
which will link platform 1 to the station entry on
platform 2.
A freestanding automated toilet will also be provided on
the Southland side of the new station.
The underpass linking platforms 1 and 2 will be located
at the Bay Road (northern) end of the platforms.
The new station will be accessed via
Southland shopping centre and include
the following features:
>>two platforms with seating and shelter
>>ramp and stair access to both platforms
>>a pedestrian underpass
>>CCTV cameras
>>public toilet facilities
>>Protective Services Officer
(PSO) facilities.
