NEW PHDA POWER SKATING MORE POWER, MORE AGILITY, MORE SPEED Program Highlights: The importance of being an efficient and quality skater has always and will always be at the forefront of being a quality Hockey player. The Pelham Hockey Development Academy POWER SKATING program is designed for hockey players who wish to improve their skating technique in order to maximize the power and speed in each skating stride creating a more efficient hockey player. The main focus of this program will be on skating fundamentals. Circuit training will be used to allow instructors to work with individual students. Each players skating stride will be broken down and analyzed to improve skating efficiency with additional emphasis placed on skill repetition to insure proper muscle memory. The program will cover explosiveness, speed, forward and backward skating, edge control and power, stopping, quick start’s, technical skills such as, tight turns, bracket turns, pivoting, lateral movements, forward and backward cross-overs as well as balance and agility. Time will also be allotted to cover puck handling, passing, and shooting. Groups divided up on ice based on skill.
