“A hundred years from now…
it will not matter what my bank account was,
the sort of house I lived in,
or the kind of car I drove…
…but the world may be different
because I was important in the life of a child.”
~Kathy Davis
Mission of The Four Diamonds Fund
The Four Diamonds Fund is working to conquer childhood cancer by making sure every child being
treated at Penn State Children’s Hospital receives complete medical, emotional, and financial support.
The Fund also supports vital research at Penn State College of Medicine into the causes, treatments, and
cures of childhood cancer.
Charles and Irma Millard established The Four Diamonds Fund after the death of their son Christopher,
who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 11.
Families Served
Each year, Four Diamonds helps approximately 600 children with cancer - 100 who are newly diagnosed
and 500 who are continuing their fight. Since its creation in 1972, Four Diamonds has helped more than
3,300 children and families and supported a diverse platform of pediatric cancer research at Penn State
Hershey Children's Hospital, seeking improved treatments and cures to benefit those around the world.
Its programs are made possible thanks to the generosity of corporate, community and individual donors,
Mini-THONs, and THON.
Because of the community's steady and generous support, Four Diamonds has been able to assist 100% of
the pediatric cancer patients who have been treated at Penn State Hershey.
Four Diamonds Carries Out Its Mission in Three Ways:
Provide superior care to all children who are battling cancer at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital; a
nationally ranked children's hospital with a team of expert physicians, nurses and therapy specialists.
Provide comprehensive support to children and their families by paying for care and treatment not
covered by insurance or other means as well as additional expenses that disrupt the welfare of the
children.
Fund innovative research to find groundbreaking new treatments and cures for childhood cancer at the
Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center. These results are regularly shared through scientific
journals and presentations—benefiting children worldwide.
