Many hours are spent working on future events and projects for the public and schools in Pike and Lincoln counties. Much forethought is required keeping in mind Raintree’s limited budget and income. Missouri Arts is only able to provide partial funding due to State mandates on it’s budget numbers. You should lobby that more resources need to be allocated to the Arts. Perfect Cure for cabin fever Winter Blues Sweet Cure Hot sounds and sweet treats, the audience enjoyed the musical talents of Clarksville’s Jerry Epperson and St. Louis performer Pat Joyce at the Apple Shed in Clarksville January 11th. From 2 to 4pm the heated Anita Ludwig theatre was alive with music and banter. A MESSAGE FROM RAINTREE ARTS COUNCIL DIRECTOR We continue to invite Raintree members and members of the community to be art’s audiences and patrons. This coming year’s events will bring back some of our favorites as well as introducing new artists and events to our area. Performances are being scheduled for the local schools for this year and next, and will be bringing a variety of performing artists to Pike and Lincoln county schools. None of these things are accomplished without our volunteers, members of our community, and our board members. I certainly appreciate them, and am grateful to all those involved in helping to continue Raintree Arts Council’s mission. We have lost a couple of board members this past season, they will continue to be missed. Thankfully newly interested members are joining us and will bring their own individual skills and ideas which will help to make RAC continue to grow towards the future. As we maintain presenting the performing and visual arts to our community we will hopefully excite and involve all who participate! Please know the invitation to join, volunteer, contribute in-kind services, engage, learn, and be a member of the audience is always open to you! Be sure to visit our Facebook page “Like” and “Share”us and leave us comments! We look forward to seeing you all! Laurel Norton, Executive Director RAINTREE ARTS COUNCIL Desk of the President Raintree Arts Board hopes that 2015 has started well for all! We are excited to have some new events added to our schedule this year as well as some new board additions. Please read about our upcoming events and our board members in this issue. Just as we welcome new members to our board, we say good-bye and thankyou to Doris Greene who will be so missed but will remain forever in our hearts. Please join Raintree if you have not and attend our events. Our mission to keep the Arts alive in Pike and Lincoln counties needs your support as a great community. Cindy Logan New and Departing Board Members Raintree Arts Council welcomes four new members. Raintee is happy and excited to welcome to its Board of Directors. Katie Willsey, Louisiana is a longtime supporter of the arts Dennis Babbitt is an artist who lives in rural Louisiana and in St. Charles Susan Minor has an art-related business, works at the Mercantile Bank Jenna Loveless who assists in running Lynn’s Heritage House and is interested in keeping the arts alive in Pike County. Raintree is excited for new people and new ideas. We welcome you all with much enthusiasm. Raintree Arts Council says “so long” to long time members. Sherry Epperson, supporter since the early days, has departed to spend more time with her husband Jerry, another long time supporter, and grandchildren. Judi Bruce, long time performing arts rep, has moved out of the area and will be involved only as a volunteer. And of course, the late Doris Greene. TRIBUTE TO DORIS GREENE Doris Greene has been such a light to this community as a whole. Moving here from Manhattan had to be a shock to her system. Even though Doris had served on many “big” city boards and had a Masters degree in art, she involved herself in her new home town. Taking workshops, classes and serving on boards and becoming hands-on in many. Doris served as President of Raintree Arts Council. After leaving RAC board, Doris remained an active supporter of the arts. Doris rejoined RAC board of directors in 2014. Doris will be missed by our board and our community but we are better from being touched by her positive wonderful light. Our best to her husband, and RAC supporter, Howard. Thank-you Doris! www.raintreeartscouncil.org Want a place for a really fun wedding or event? Try the Apple Shed! Reasonable!
