OFFICIAL RULES OF THE RANDY JONES INVITATIONAL 2015
OFFICIAL RULES OF THE RANDY JONES INVITATIONAL 2015/ 2016 Championship rd
1.
Tournament Structure.
The 3
Annual Randy Jones Invitational is a 2 day Amateur Team Championship! Teams can qualify to play in the Randy Jones Invitational by finishing first, second or third place in a San Diego County golf tournament benefiting a charity with a 501(c) 3 designation with a minimum of 60 golfers. Teams must be comprised of four amateur golfers (determined in accordance with the USGA rules of golf). Handicaps will not be required. All teams finishing in first, second or third place in a qualifying golf tournament will receive an invitation to play in one of 10 SemiFinal Tournaments held at Sycuan Golf Resort during January 2016. The top 3 teams with the best scores in each SemiFinal Tournament (after giving effect to tie breakers) will be eligible to register for the Randy Jones Invitational Championship Tournament. If a team qualifies to play in the Championship Tournament, but fails to timely register, the next team which would have qualified will be offered that team’s spot until the field is full for the Championship Tournament. Official Scorekeepers will be provided at all of the holes for both the semifinal tournaments and the 2 day Championship. Entry fees for the 10 SemiFinal tournaments will be paid for by the Randy Jones Invitational. The Entry Fee for the 2 day Championship Tournament will be $500 per player ($2,000 per foursome) and will include greens fees for 2 rounds of golf on two of Sycuan Resorts Championship Golf Courses (1 round on Oak Glen, 1 round on Willow Glen). Included with the two rounds of championship golf will be the following: Cart, Range Balls, Great Tee Prizes, Lunch on the course, buffet meal after the first round, and a Gala dinner on Sunday night at the conclusion of the tournament plus much more. 2.
Rules of the Semi–Final and the Championship Tournament.
Each of the SemiFinal and the Championship Tournaments will be a 4 person team scramble format. Each team is made up of four players, at least two of which must have played in a qualifying charity tournament. Teams are allowed 2 substitute players from the foursome that qualified in their charity tournament. Each of the four members of the team shall hit one tee shot on every hole. The team then selects one tee shot and continues play from that point. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out. Each team member must play his/her shot from within one club length of the selected shot (except when on the putting green). However, the ball may not be placed closer to the hole. In addition, if the selected shot was in the fairway, each member of the team must place his/her ball in the fairway to play the next shot. Likewise, if the selected shot was in the rough, bunker, water hazard, fringe, etc., each member of the team must place the ball in, and play from, respectively, the rough, bunker, water hazard, fringe, etc. In every instance, each team member may place the ball. In other words, all balls are played at preferred lies and winter rules. Team members may rake bunkers between shots. Play all balls up. Lies may be improved anywhere on the course by placing the ball. Once the team's ball has reached the putting green, the ball should be marked and another spot should be marked approximately 6 inches to the side, no nearer to the hole. This will allow the team to mark the ball so that all players can putt from the same spot without being disturbed by the ball marker. Once a ball is holed out, play is completed for that hole. Therefore, it is recommended that players not putt out until all players have attempted the putt from the selected position. Out of Bounds is defined by white stakes. Water Hazards are defined by yellow stakes and lines. Ground under Repair is defined by white lines. Lateral Hazards are defined by red stakes and lines. All participants must comply with the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. Any team that contains a golf professional is ineligible to compete and win prizes. If it is discovered that a team contains a member who is a golf professional, that team shall be disqualified and any prizes awarded to that team or its members shall be returned. If a team is disqualified for a rules violation entry fees will not be refunded. The Rules of Golf, as approved by the USGA, will govern play. The Sycuan officials and the RJI Staff, whose decisions will be final, will settle questions and determine regulations regarding course set up, rules, eligibility and scoring in its sole discretion. If a team shoots the same aggregate score in either the SemiFinal Qualifiers or in the Championship Tournament, there will be a tiebreak to determine which team finishes higher as follows: The scorecards of each team will be reviewed and scores on the #1 handicap hole will be compared. The team with the lowest score on the #1 handicap hole will win the tiebreak. If the teams have the same score on the #1 handicap hole, the comparison will move to the #2 handicap hole, then to the #3 handicap hole, and so on, until a winner is determined. If teams have the exact same score on all 18 holes, the winner will be determined by coin flip. 3.
