RGI ACCOUNTING MANAGER POSITION DESCRIPTION The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting for RGI and multiple association clients. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit/review and tax return preparation and the support of budget activities. The Accounting Manager has contact with senior-level bank representatives, outside CPA firms and RGI’s Executive Directors and staff. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES General Duties A thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close Maintain the general ledger to ensure accuracy of financial data Advises staff regarding accounting transactions Responds to inquiries from staff regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like Provide training to new and existing staff as needed Oversee processing of cash disbursements and cut checks for association client expenses including the use of positive pay Process cash disbursements/cut checks for RGI expenses include the timely processing of positive pay transactions Oversee and/or maintain checkbooks including the use of remote capture Initiates approval process for bank transfers as appropriate Tracks certificate of deposit maturity rates informing appropriate staff of renewal date and new rates Coordinate daily banking requirements Responds to inquiries from the President, Director of Finance and others regarding financial results and special reporting requests Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance workflow efficiencies and accuracy Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives and advise on progress to enhance the professional development of staff Annual and Year End procedures Preparation of 1099 reports Work with the Executive Directors and outside CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year end audits, reviews or compilations Support budget and forecasting activities including inputting annual budget information Obtain new signature cards based on association’s election cycle Monthly Procedures Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information Reconcile monthly bank statements Reconcile cash receipts for deposits Prepare association client billings, including management fees and reimbursable expenses Updated 12.13.14 Manages payroll process, including: Collection of data (e.g. timesheets, status change forms) for preparation of bi-weekly payroll Health, life and other insurance deductions 401k deductions and reporting, including year-end working with outside firm on Form 5500 report preparation Health Savings Account deductions and reporting Cash transfer management for payroll draws KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Five to seven years’ experience with financial reporting/general ledger management. Experience working with professional services firms. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and work in close harmony with the President, Executive Directors and other staff members required. Other requirements: Proficient in accounting software applications and Microsoft Excel Knowledge of MAS90 a plus but not required Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines Initiative to take on projects independently and foresee priorities and tasks Ability to recognize potential problems and develop solutions Strong attention to detail while keeping the overall goals of a project in mind Proven ability to work as part of a team Discipline to successfully work without close supervision This position description is not intended to be and should not be construed, as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with the position.
