EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY POSITION: FINANCE CLERK I DEPARTMENT: COMPETITION NUMBER: APPLICATION DEADLINE: SALARY/WAGE: POSITION TYPE: ANTICIPATED START DATE: LOCATION: CAHRD (FINANCE) 2015FCI-FC01 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6th, 2015 $40,177.80 Term, 37.5 hours per week May 11th, 2015 WINNIPEG, MANITOBA JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Finance Officer, the Finance Clerk is primarily responsible for various clerical and routine accounting tasks. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures and preparing and monitoring payroll systems. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES − − − − − − − Assists in the performance of various clerical duties. Posts data to various accounts; audits ledgers and related records for accuracy; reconciles ledgers; Prepares and codes accounts payable/receivable information and enters information into the computer system Checks computer output for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments; Uses basic financial features of software packages, especially spreadsheet and word processing, and performs basic operations with mainframe financial programs. Prepares pay vouchers and billings; types and/or word processes reports, letters, memos, pay vouchers, purchase orders, and other accounting forms. Answers telephone and takes messages; responds to routine questions both by telephone and in-person relating to accounts and their status. 1. Payroll − − − − − − − − Complete payroll functions in order to ensure staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner Establish and maintain confidential employee files Process TD1 forms Calculate salaries and benefits Verify pay amounts, hours of work, deductions, etc. Verify coding and obtain signatures Data enter of payroll information Prepare and remit source deductions and payroll tax, log in pay cheques 2. Perform other related duties as required REQUIREMENTS • Accounting certificate or diploma from an accredited college or university. • Equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, bookkeeping skills, problem solving and decision making skills, attention to detail and high level of accuracy, time management skills, effective organizational skills.
