Integration of drive unit and control unit
Ready-made drive units – easy to install
Material and labour cost savings thanks to fewer cables
Optimum control and safety
drive to innovate
Ridder developed the Ridder LogicLink300 (RLL300) to provide the RW motor gearboxes with more intelligence and added value.
The RLL300 is a complete drive unit with integrated mechanical and control components that operate together seamlessly. This
offers new ways of optimizing climate control that were previously not possible.
Reversing and protection components have been fitted in the
RLL300 housing mounted to the motor gearbox. This means far
fewer cables are required between the motor gearboxes and the
central control cabinet, resulting in substantial cost savings in
labour and materials. Two series of integratable control units are
available for the Ridder RW motor gearboxes: the RLL300 and Ridder
LogicLink600 (RLL600). Both are intelligent control units, but the
RLL600 provides more extensive functionality than the RLL300.
RLL300
The RLL300 control unit is a ready-made, easy-to-use solution
for the installation and control of RW motor gearboxes in both
rotational directions. The RLL300 control unit achieves this with
a potted control board with solid state relays. This control unit
is mounted directly onto a motor gearbox, so the drive unit and
control unit are integrated.
The RLL300 control unit is supplied as a stand-alone controller: the
Ridder LogicLink320. This control unit can, for example, open or
close individual vents and screens. The unit can be operated with
manual controls or with a 24V AC/DC control signal from a climate
computer. The stand-alone RLL300 unit is suitable for various supply
voltages and mains frequencies and is connected to a power supply
cable (1- or 3-phase) and a control signal from the manual control
unit or climate computer.
Benefits of the new RLL300
• The RLL300 is easy to use and connect, and requires minimal
maintenance.
• The system can be operated with a simple manual control unit.
Connection to a climate computer is not necessarily required.
• The unit provides optimum control and protection.
• Fewer cables are required because the control unit is mounted
on the drive unit.
• The RLL300 can relay an error signal to a climate computer.
• The control unit is potted, making it resistant to moisture, dirt
and vibrations.
• The unit is suitable for various supply voltages and mains
frequencies, making it ideal for application in other countries and
export purposes.
• The RLL300 includes intelligent safety features and can identify
phases.
• The Ridder Positioning Unit (RPU) is easy to connect to the
RLL300 power supply, so no additional no additional cables are
required for the RPU.
• The RLL300 is in the process for UL/CSA certification.

Safety and the RLL300
The RLL300 includes features to ensure maximum protection of the
driven system and drive unit should an emergency situation occur.
The RLL300 is equipped with rotating field detection for 3-phase
supply voltages. The LogicLink detects when a phase switch occurs
and makes the necessary control adjustments, such as operating
the RW motor gearbox in the correct rotational direction. Phase
detection ensures that no unwanted behaviour occurs should a
supply voltage phase fail. The RLL300 no longer controls the motor
gearbox in this situation.
The RLL300 protects the electric motor of the RW motor gearbox
against overloads. To do so, the electric motor must be equipped
with a PTC (a thermistor whose Ohms resistance increases as
the temperature rises). The RLL300 control unit is also capable of
operating a safety switch. If the LogicLink300 detects an emergency
situation, it is relayed by the control unit.
