The Ridgefield School District is seeking an Assistant Superintendent who is a visionary leader having the instructional
leadership skills and human relations abilities to actualize the vision and mission of the District, preparing all students to their fullest
extent to meet or exceed state standards. The Assistant Superintendent will act as the Superintendent’s designee in overseeing
human resources—including personnel and labor relations—and curriculum and instruction for the District. The Assistant
Superintendent position may include other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, depending on a successful candidate’s
qualifications and experience. These duties may include, but are not limited to, providing leadership and direction in the areas of
special education and communications. As such, the duties on the job description may be refined upon selection of a successful
candidate.
The Assistant Superintendent must also have the ability to implement school improvement in a standards-based model. In doing so,
the Assistant Superintendent will build collaborative relationships with staff, students, and parents, bringing these groups together
positively and productively with a critical focus on student learning. The Assistant Superintendent must be a highly effective
communicator, having an ability to utilize multiple strategies to regularly and clearly communicate with all stakeholders. The Assistant
Superintendent will continue to nurture a positive and respectful District climate, and develop professional capacities in staff,
purposely directed to increase levels of student learning.

Hold an advanced degree in administration, curriculum, personnel or related field.
Possess or qualify for Washington State Administrative Certification.

Is a small community situated along the Interstate 5 corridor in northern Clark County Washington. It is one of the fastest growing
cities in Washington and is located approximately 10 miles north of Vancouver and 20 miles north of Portland, Oregon. As a
community, Ridgefield strives to manage growth while maintaining the friendliness and spirit of a small town. Ridgefield students come
from diverse economic and educational backgrounds. Multiple
generations of the same families have attended Ridgefield schools
throughout the years establishing a strong tradition of “Spudder Pride.
Ridgefield schools enjoy a strong reputation for academic achievement.
Our students and schools consistently score among the highest when
compared to other school districts in Southwest Washington.
We are the next-door neighbor to the 5,200 acre Ridgefield National
Wildlife Refuge and within ten miles of the Fort Vancouver National
Historic Site. The Mount St. Helen’s National Volcanic Monument is an
hour’s drive away, and both Mt. Hood skiing and the Pacific Ocean are
great day trips.
There are currently 2,310 students in the Ridgefield School District.
However, that number is expected to increase rapidly. Students are
served in two K-6 elementary schools, a 7-8 middle school, and a 9-12 high school. The District is eagerly embracing the challenges
of Educational Reform in Washington State, and is addressing issues associated with growth.

New Construction . . .
2012, Ridgefield voters approved a $47M bond to construct new school facilities
at each campus. The project was finished for the 2014 school year, and included
26 classrooms, student support spaces such as cafeterias; music/common areas;
a renovated stadium and track; a performing arts center; and improved vehicle
parking, access, and traffic flow at each campus.
