I understand no royalties will be received for these performances but if selected for the final, the participants of this production may be eligible for prizes. You will be required at the venue from 12:30pm on your heat day. There will then be one showing in front of an audience and the judges @ 7:30pm. The final will be held on Friday 12th June 2015, so please ensure you are also available for that date (tech starts at 3:30pm for the final) in the case that your performance makes it through. Please read carefully even if you have entered before as they may have changed. 1. The plays performed must be new works written by a person aged 18 years or under, and attending a secondary training institution or other training institution (e.g. drama academy). Plays will be accepted from people over 18 only if they are currently studying at a secondary institution. 2. Each play must be 10 minutes or less in duration. Any play that exceeds this time limit will be disqualified 3. Timing of your play begins when the stage lights come up or the action of the play begins, whichever happens first. (For example: A play may begin with dialogue in a blackout). Timing does not include change over between plays or pre-show music (unless they are part of the action of the play). 4. There will be a full dress and technical rehearsal run for all plays. In the evening, the plays are performed in front of an audience, at which the judges will be present. 5. All performers and directors must be 18 years of age or under. 6. There is no age restriction on the producer of each performance, and in fact the producer should be a teacher or adult. 7. Each production will have access to the following props – Table, Chairs 8. Each production is allowed to bring in any personal props (i.e. able to be carried in by a single person) required specifically for their production. 9. Any larger pieces of set or props can only be used by arrangement with the organisers of Sharp Short Theatre. These should not be relied upon as permission may be refused. 10. Each production shall have access to the venue with a lighting designer & crew for their specified rehearsal time on the day of their performance to technically rehearse and stage their play. 11. Any music required should be supplied to the sound operator on Compact Disc, along with a script clearly marking where they music is to be used. 12. Each production must supply 3 copies of their script to the Production Manager. 13. Sharp Short Theatre will provide a Technical Manager, A Stage Manager, and the Lighting and Sound operators. 14. Each producer should supply their own Assistant Stage Manager and up to 2 other crew members if their production requires them. 15. Each group must be fully supervised by a responsible adult for the day at the theatre. A responsible adult must be at least 18 years of age. st 16. Any recorded music being used as part of your production must be authorised by APRA prior to your performance. By the 1 May, 2015 you must send through any details of music that you intend to use so that the approval process can occur. 17. Please note that Sharp Short Theatre is a youth competition and therefore content of the entries must be reasonably suitable for a family audience. The producer must advise Riverside of any coarse language, adult themes or anything that might be inappropriate for a family audience ahead of time to allow Riverside to issue appropriate warnings to ticket purchasers. Riverside reserves the right not to allow a production to be performed should it be deemed too inappropriate for this audience.
