Results from the Spring Trials are used as one component for invitation to RCA National Team selection camps for Junior and Under 23 programs; the results will also be used as part of selection process for other development teams supported by RCA during the 2015 season. The Spring Trials provide a High Performance competitive experience for all Canadian rowing athletes early in the competitive season To provide athletes on the RCA High Performance Development pathway on opportunity to demonstrate their on-­‐
water abilities in a regatta setting. To provide RCA HP program with the opportunity to test possible boat combinations within a regatta setting. TENTATIVE SCHEDULE / RACE FORMAT Rowing Canada Aviron reserves the right to adjust the schedule and format of this event based on number of entries, etc and to best achieve the objectives of the High Performance program. A final schedule will be circulated for each event once the registration has closed and RCA’s HP staff can review the entries. Athletes need to provide boats for both small boats and crew boats. Athletes/crews will be seeded into Finals based on their ranking /2x in the Time Trial (Top 6 to A Final, 7-­‐12 to B Final, Etc) Finals for: M1x / JM1x / LM1x / W1x / JW1x / LW1x JW2-­‐ / JM2-­‐ / PARA: ASM1x, ASW1x, TAM1x, TAW1x, LTA 2-­‐/2x Junior Club Coaches and RCA will meet and review prior performance and establish boats for a Junior 2-­‐ and 2x “Matrix” races Athletes/crews will be seeded into Finals based on their ranking in the Time Trial (Top 6 to A Final, 7-­‐12 to B Final, Etc). Different combinations may be decided for Sunday events for W2-­‐, as per Time trials for: M2x / LM2x/ High Performance Director directive, dependant on boat and M2-­‐ / LM2-­‐ / W2x / W2-­‐ / athlete availability LW2x *Athletes may be invited to participate in crew races based on their performance in Saturday’s events. This may increase # of entries in each event. Final draw will be posted at the conclusion of Saturdays racing. Matrix Racing for Junior 2-­‐‘s Athletes will be invited to participate in 2-­‐ and 2x matrix races and 2x’s based on their performance in Saturday’s events. If a club Time trials for Crew Boats athlete does not have a combination to race in fo the Sunday Targeted by RCA program crew boats, ideally a crew combination will be provided by the Coaches (LW2x, W8+, W4x, respective Performance Director, providing boats are available W2x, LM4-­‐, LM2x, as examples) and depending on numbers of athletes (odd numbers may not be able to be accommodated) Matrix Racing for Junior 2-­‐ and Athletes will be invited to participate in 2-­‐ and 2x matrix races 2x’s based on their performance in Saturday’s events. Finals for Crew Boats Targeted by RCA program Coaches RIGHT OF ENTRY The Spring Trials shall be open to all Junior, Under 23, and Senior athletes. Participants must be Canadian citizens; however, international athletes wishing to participate in the pair events (W2-­‐ and M2-­‐) in support of a Canadian Athlete will be considered on an individual basis. -­‐ All Canadian athlete participants must be registered in good standing with RCA, and their Provincial Rowing Associations. -­‐ International athletes must be members in good standing with their National Rowing Federation. Athletes shall compete in their Club, University, Provincial, or National Training Centre colours. In the Pair events, composite crews may be made up of any combination of athletes representing any club, university, provincial, or NTC team ENTRY DEADLINE: th

Spring Trials East – April 24 2015 at 5:00 pm (Pacific time) ENTRY FEES AND REGISTRATION: Entry fees for this event will be $50 per athlete. Payment of these fees will be collected at the time of registration. * BC participants will need to pay a $4.00 per person per day regatta fee. Registration – A registration link will be forwarded at least 1 week prior to the entry deadline EVENTS The following events will be contested at the 2015 Spring Trials: Women’s events (these will include Senior and U23) W2-­‐ / W1x / LW1x LW2x – West Trials Junior Women’s Events JW2-­‐ / JW1x Men’s events (these will include Senior and U23) M2-­‐ / M1x / LM2-­‐ / LM1x M2x / LM2x – West trials Junior Men’s Events JM2-­‐ / JM1x PARA Events – (Para events will be 1000M in length) ASM1x / ASW1x TAM1x/TAW1x Page 2 of 3
LTAM2x/-­‐ , LTAW2x/-­‐ (One athlete per crew must qualify as an LTA athlete) TA2x/LTA4+ LIGHT WEIGHTS Lightweight athletes will follow the following adjusted FISA weigh-­‐in format. LM2-­‐ and LM1x: 72.5kg Max (no crew averaging) LW1x: Summer Racing Weight (SRW) +1kg. (please note SRW for each individual LW athlete is assigned by the Performance Director -­‐ Women. If you do not have a SRW assigned, the maximum for this regatta is 58kg Combinations for Sunday’ racing for both West and East trials will follow weight requirements as above. No averaging but max of 72.5kg for LM and SRW+1kg for LW (max of 58kg) All Lightweight rowers shall weigh in wearing their racing uniform not less than one hour and not more than two hours before their first race of each lightweight event in which they are competing, each day of the competition. If you race twice on the same day, you shall only be weighed in before your first event of the day. * note for future trials: for 2017 and beyond, spring trials weight requirements for all Lightweight athletes will be at FISA average; i.e LM max for trials will be 70kg, LW max for trials will be 57kg. ATHLETE MEETINGS Information regarding athlete meetings will be circulated and posted at the regatta sites. Page 3 of 3
