Indian rubber industry has been growing with its strength and importance as a part of India’s burgeoning role in the
global economy. India is the world’s largest producer and the fourth largest consumer of natural rubber and is also
one of the fastest growing economies globally. With a stable annual growth rate, rising foreign exchange reserves,

Rubber industry in India plays a pivotal role in developing Indian economy with increasing the range of products both

India is expected to become self-sufficient in synthetic rubber by 2017 as its production capacity triples,
improving raw material supply for tyre makers in a country that is home to one of the world’s biggest car markets.
This will also translate into $1 billion less on imports annually, slightly easing the country’s trade deficit that was
at $139 billion last year.
For many years Indian demand outstripped the production capacity of synthetic rubber, with new plants coming on
stream, India will become self-sufficient in synthetic rubber production.”India is expected to become the world’s No.3
car market by 2018. This will further fuel a domestic rush to produce more of the synthetic rubber that is mixed with
natural rubber to make tyres.
