STEWARDSHIP
“This is my commandment: love one another as I
love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay
down one’s life for one’s friends” - John 15:12-13
Do you love Jesus? Do you consider Him your
friend? Jesus says that if we love Him we should be
willing to offer whatever we have to Him, not
because we want praise and glory, but simply
because we love Him.

WHAT CATHOLICS WANT TO KNOW
DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE!
OUR LADY OF FATIMA
STATUE
St. Clare of Assisi is delighted to
announce a prayerful opportunity for
your family to welcome the statue of
Our Lady of Fatima into your home.
For an entire week, your family can
gather individually or as a group to
honor Our Lady by praying with the
statue of Our Blessed Mother. Jesus
appointed His Mother the 'Mediatrix
of all Graces' and Pope Francis has
consecrated his Papacy to Our Lady of Fatima.
To request and reserve the statue of Our Lady of
Fatima for a week, please sign-up, beginning May
10, on the calendar in the gathering space.
For more information contact Susie Mansfield:

Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments, also called the
Decalogue, sum up the Law given by God to the
people of Israel, which Christians are also obliged to
follow. “Imagine all of the misery that could be
avoided,” writes Matthew Kelly, “if we all just lived by
the life-giving wisdom found in the Ten
Commandments.” Not only should we follow the Ten
Commandments, but we should be Alive in Christ!
Which commandment did Christ identify as the most
important, and which commandant flows from it?

BUILDING A CULTURE OF VOCATIONS
Jesus commanded us to pray for vocations with His
words, “Pray, therefore, the Lord of the harvest to
send out laborers into His harvest” (Mt. 9:38). Take
on prayer for vocations as your personal effort to
increase the number of priests, sisters, brothers, and
lay ministers.

Don’t forget…
No Sunday Evening Mass this weekend!
Also no Sunday 5pm Mass on May 24th
(Memorial Day weekend).
BIBLE STUDY
Catholics have a reputation for not reading the Bible. It seems to go back to a time
when people were not generally literate and so had to have the Bible explained to
them. In fact, it was always permissible to read the Bible, but we were asked to look to
the teachings of the Church for interpretation. Bible study has become an important
part of adult formation in many parishes. Groups gather and discuss particular parts of
the Bible, usually with a leader. Many times specific published courses are used. So,
while each person may share how the particular Scripture passage speaks to them,
they also receive information about the passage from a source of scriptural scholarship.

RESPECT LIFE!
THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON
The most important person on earth is a mother.
She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral.
She need not.
She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral—
a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body.
The Angels have not been blessed with such a grace.
They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new Saints to Heaven.
Only a human mother can.
Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creatures.
God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation.
What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?
Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty

SOCIAL JUSTICE/SOCIAL ACTION/WAYS TO HELP
WORD OF LIFE
THANK YOU to FUNERAL OUTREACH
“Pope Francis has captivated the world with his
humility, warmth and compassion for each person.
Vivid accounts of his tenderness for “the least of
these”—the elderly, the imprisoned, those with
disfiguring disabilities, the unborn, and many more—
seize our attention. Why? At the heart of each of
these interactions is a truth which resonates in our
hearts, revealing to us something essential to
understanding ourselves and our purpose. We are
loved.”
A big thank you to team C and co-captains Mary
Berblinger and Kathy Warner for the great meal
provided for the Bernie Keyes family after his
funeral. As always preparation and delivery were
wonderful!!! God thank and reward you ALL.

Consider Remembering
Your Parish in Your Will.
WHY IS IT
A man wakes up after sleeping
under an ADVERTISED blanket
on an ADVERTISED mattress
and pulls off ADVERTISED pajamas
bathes in an ADVERTISED shower
shaves with an ADVERTISED razor
brushes his teeth
with ADVERTISED toothpaste
washes with ADVERTISED soap
puts on ADVERTISED clothes
drinks a cup
of ADVERTISED coffee
drives to work
in an ADVERTISED car
and then . . . .
refuses to ADVERTISE
believing it doesn’t pay.
Later if business is poor
he ADVERTISES it for sale.
